Actress Eva Mendes gathered up all the mums in her life for an intensive 'mothers' day' so she could get a feel for what it's like to be a woman with a kid for her new film The Place Among The Pines.
The sexy star plays a single mum in the movie opposite real-life boyfriend Ryan Gosling and wanted to make sure her maternal role in the film was spot on.
She tells Wenn, "I have so many women in my life, my family, my friends, my sisters, my mother. And before I started working, I had a women's day at home. I brought all these women and they were all mothers and we all sat around and talked and ate and had fun.
"I gave them a subject matter and posed the question, 'You have a child with a man you don't know and the man is out of the picture. Then you meet a great man who wants to provide for this child as his own. Then the unfit biological father comes back in the picture and wants to provide. What do you do?'
"I thought, 'You go with the man who's fit to provide for the child,' and all these women were like, 'No, there's a primal pull to the biological father, no matter how wrong or unfit he is and you try everything to make that work.'
"I got so much insight from my friends and family and women (who) were in similar situations, which was so helpful for me."
