Actress Eva Longoria has teamed up with Toys "R" Us to advocate for public acceptance of children with disabilities.
The Desperate Housewives star has thrown her support behind the store's annual Toy Guide for Differently-Abled Kids because she knows first-hand what it's like living with a loved one who has special needs.
She tells America's Ok! Magazine, "I grew up with a special needs sister, and I started Eva's Heroes, which is an after-school program for developmentally disabled kids. So this is a natural extension... My hero is my sister. She really taught me about compassion and helping others. People think you have to be rich, famous or a celebrity to be philanthropic. It's not true."
Longoria shot the cover for the mini magazine earlier this month (Jun11) in Los Angeles.
