Eugene McGuinness' new single, Shotgun, will be released on March 26th, 2012. It is the second single from his anticipated forthcoming album, which will be released in June 2012. Eugene has announced he will be touring with Marina and the Diamonds in February 2012 and Miles Kane in April 2012.
The video for Shotgun was directed by Eugene's long term collaborators Will Lovelace and Dan Southern. Shot in black and white, the sixties inspired video cuts between Eugene singing into a microphone; standing in a sitting room and standing in front of a retro backdrop, which also provides the background for a sixties looking dancer.
Eugene is the front man of Eugene and the Lizards, alongside his brother Dominic McGuinness; Malcolm Lunan and John Barrett. Their debut album, Glue, was released in 2009 and also served as Eugene's second album - his self-titled debut album was released in 2008. His debut EP was called The Early Learnings Of Eugene McGuinness and was released through Double Six, before the singer signed to Domino Records (the home of Arctic Monkeys, amongst others).
Eugene recently performed at London White Heat at Madam Jojos. The full list of his tour dates are as follows:
