LEONARDO DiCAPRIO is putting pressure on movie executives at Warner BROS to
find a director for a new movie adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's FOR WHOM THE
BELLS TOLL - or he'll pull out of the project.
The AVIATOR star is refusing to sign on to play ROBERT JORDAN in the movie
until a director is announced.
If he does agree to play Hemingway's teacher character, who becomes a
guerrilla during the Spanish Civil War, he'll become the third actor to take on
Gary Cooper played Jordan, alongside Ingrid Bergman, in the 1943
adaptation and JOHN RONANE starred in a TV adaptation in 1965.
