Magic In The Moonlight Trailer

Stanley is a talented magician who goes by the name of Wei Ling Soo professionally, and he is also a renowned cynic. One day, an associate enlists him to help him expose a self-proclaimed spirit medium named Sophie living in the South of France and he decides to travel over, convinced that he will easily debunk her. Despite everyone around her insisting that she has displayed psychic abilities beyond anyone's comprehension, Stanley is determined to force her to reveal her deceptive secrets, but on meeting her it seems that he also is captivated. Extremely beautiful, Sophie becomes something of a love interest for Stanley and, in spite of his initial doubts, he too finds himself unable to explain some of the extraordinary feats Sophie is demonstrating, and he starts to wonder if the world really is full of magic.

Little Athens Review

Weak
Ensemble comedies featuring interlocking stories seem to be all the rage these days, but boy does it take serious talent to pull off the intricate plotting and careful structure of one of these films. Tom Zuber (whose prior film, Lansdown, was nothing special either) either doesn't have the talent or the patience for such a story. Instead, he turns in a tired retread of umpteen "slackers do drugs, party, have sex, and get in trouble" movies which have grown so popular and so tiresome in the indie filmmaking scene.

Little Athens is no Pulp Fiction. We've got a small-time drug dealing kid (John Patrick Amedori) who steals a stash from his own dealer's dead cousin, a pair of EMTs (Erica Leerhsen and Rachel Miner) each dealing with issues of love and lust, and two slack-jawed losers (DJ Qualls and Jorge Garcia) who have just been evicted.

Book Of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 Review

Weak
The cinematic event of 1999 desperately wants you to make it the cinematic event of 2000, as the (first) sequel to The Blair Witch Project is rushed into theaters just in time for Halloween. Alas, it's not to be, and soon the original will become regarded as a one-hit wonder and a footnote in the annals of independent film.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 is clearly Made In Hollywood, but it's still trying to pretend to be a documentary. The story this time? In Book of Shadows, the original Blair Witch was "just a movie," but this time it's for real -- this is what happened after all those tourists descended upon Burkittsville, MD, believing the woods to be genuinely haunted.

Weak

"Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2" exists for one reason and one reason only: Greed.

Artisan Entertainment -- the studio that purchased "The Blair Witch Project" last year at Sundance for $1 million and turned a $139 million profit -- isn't the least bit interested in whether this forced and fabricated sequel is any good. Quality and integrity don't enter into the equation. If they did, this movie wouldn't exist.

I don't have to tell you it stinks. You know that without seeing it. Everybody knows that. "Book of Shadows" is the first sequel in history that will turn a profit solely on morbid curiosity.
