Comedian Eric Idle's Beatles spoof THE RUTLES was approved by all of the Fab Four when it was released in 1978. Idle had no idea how The Beatles - George Harrison, Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Ringo Starr - would react. Idle says, "The first time I played George the music, he started to sing, 'Instant Karma's gonna get you!' in a very loud voice. "Ringo told he liked The Rutles but Paul only seemed to approve when he learned that I had grown up in Wallasey, near (Beatles hometown) Liverpool. "I heard John and Yoko adored it, which I thought was sporting of them as Yoko is portrayed as HITLER's daughter." Lennon was shot dead in 1980 and Harrison passed away in 2001.
