Emma Watson, the British movie star currently starring in the eighth and final Harry Potter movie 'The Deathly Hallows: Part 2', has reportedly signed up to star in a remake of 'Beauty and the Beast', directed by Guillermo Del Toro.
Speaking to ComingSoon.net, 'Crazy, Stupid, Love' producer Denise Di Nova revealed she's working on a contemporary adaptation of the classic fairy-tale movie, with Del Toro at the helm. She also revealed Watson is lined up to take the lead role, having completed her stint as 'Hermione Granger' in the Potter movies. Production on the film is expected to begin once Del Toro completes work on his new movie 'Pacific Rum', with 'Luther' star Idris Elba and Charlie Day. Watson currently has no movie projects in the works after wrapping up filming on the Marilyn Monroe biopic 'My Week with Marilyn' and drama 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower', set for release in 2012. Recent reports have suggested the actress will return to either Browns University in New York or Oxford University in England to complete her degree, but it is assumed she would juggle her studies with future movie projects.
Little more is known about Emma Watson's involvement in 'Beauty and the Beast', but it is thought Del Toro's movie would retain the original setting, rather than modernising it like the recent adaptation 'Beastly'.
