Hip-hop star Eminem is using his celebrity and wealth to help save the annual firework display in his native Detroit, Michigan.
Every year, Detroit and its sister city of Windsor, Ontario in Canada across the Detroit River join forces to celebrate their relationship with a huge fireworks display, which has been in danger of being cancelled following recent budget cuts.
However, Eminem has offered to perform one song at the opening of the annual INTERNATIONAL FREEDOM FESTIVAL on Wednesday (29JUN05), with tickets going for $175 each.
Eminem enthuses, "The fireworks are a big part of summertime in Detroit, and I want to support them and the mayor. I've come downtown to watch them since I was a kid, and I'll get involved in something that helps the city any way I can."26/06/2005 09:30
