Eminem's first hits compilation CURTAIN CALL has stormed to the top spot in the US charts after selling 441,000 copies in its opening week.

New Orleans, Louisiana rapper Lil' Wayne's fifth album THA CARTER II debuted in a distant second place, with 239,000 CDs sold.

And rockers Korn rebounded from the departure of born-again Christian BRIAN 'HEAD' WELCH by debuting their new album SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE at number three.

Hits compilation NOW! THAT'S WHAT I CALL MUSIC and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood's SOME HEARTS round out the top five.

Meanwhile, the week's biggest surprise was the lacklustre performance of Lindsay Lohan's new release, A LITTLE MORE PERSONAL, which debuted in 20th place on the new chart with a disappointing 82,000 sales.
