Emily Mortimer's role in 'Cars 2' came at the perfect time for her because her son Sam, seven, is the right age to be excited by the film.
Emily Mortimer says her role in 'Cars 2' couldn't have come "at a better time".
The British actress - who has two children, Sam, seven, and 18-month-old May, with husband Alessandro Nivola - voices sexy sports car Holley Shiftwell in the Pixar movie sequel and was delighted to be involved in the movie now because of how much pleasure it gave her eldest child.
She explained: "He's the perfect demographic, a seven year Old Boy, he's been brought up on Pixar movies and embarrassingly enough one of his first words was Nemo, which doesn't say much for our parenting skills.
"My dad used to call up and say, 'How's little Nemo?' because of it. Every since he's been obsessed with Pixar and 'Cars' was one of his favourites.
"My husband and I went to Pixar and watched the film with Sam and he met all the Pixar people and saw the models, he just had the day of his life, they gave him all the toys.
"It couldn't have come at a better time, he's just the perfect age for me to be doing this part now."
Emily's character has been compared with the female spies in 'James Bond' movies but director John Lassiter didn't want her to study too many other films when researching her role.
She explained: "I think he's looking for you trying not to be copying any other movie or genre, really just to be yourself in the context of this crazy universe he's created so I wasn't really encouraged to think about Bond movies or any other movies as a way of approaching the part."
