JOHNNY BRAGG, the man who co-wrote classic ballad JUST WALKIN' IN THE RAIN from his prison cell, has died in Nashville, Tennessee, aged 79.

Bragg, who spent a large portion of his life in prison on rape and shoplifting charges, was a founding member of THE PRISONAIRES - a black vocal group of inmates who toured penitentiaries across America.

Bragg's Just Walkin' In The Rain tune, which he co-wrote with a fellow inmate at Tennessee State Penitentiary, became one of the first hits for SUN RECORDS, and on his release from jail in 1961, Bragg befriended ELVIS PRESLEY.

Presley even visited the singer when he was sent back to prison years later - and offered to pay his legal bills.

Bragg was the last surviving member of The Prisonaires.
