Elvis Presley's Palm Springs hideaway has been sold for $1.75 million (GBP972,000).

The five-bedroom desert mansion, which The King bought for $85,000 (GBP41,670) in 1970, has been declared a historic landmark by the local city council.

The mansion, which lies in the foothills of the San Jacinto Mountains, was built in 1946. Presley owned the home until his death in 1977.
