SIR Elton John has teamed up with the brains behind Desperate Housewives and Sex And The City for a new TV sitcom about the people who help HIM to run his empire.

Sex And The City writer CINDY CHUPACK (corr) is writing a pilot for the show, tentatively titled HIM + US, about an ageing rock star's entourage and the producers of new phenomenon Desperate Housewives are looking to score a hit with the idea on ABC in America.

John admits the idea came from one of his employees after candid documentary TANTRUMS AND TIARAS aired in 1995.

The British rocker insists the lead character in the show is only loosely based on him, and he may appear occasionally in a cameo role.

He says, "It's going to be very funny. I have 30 years of experience to know how I can be.

"It's not about me per se. It's about a rock star, but I might be a friend of the rock star and come in and be on the programme once in a while."

Meanwhile, John is teaming up with Disney bosses to make a biopic about himself, which he hopes will be directed by photographer David LaChapelle and feature Justin Timberlake as the younger Elton.
