SIR Elton John has confirmed he will be joining a bevy of rockers to re-record Buzzcocks hit EVER FALLEN IN LOVE? as a tribute to the late British radio DJ John Peel.

ROCKET MAN star John will play piano and sing when he teams up with Buzzcocks singer PETE SHELLEY, PINK FLOYD star Dave Gilmour and Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant to recreate the punk anthem.

He says, "It is always important to remember people who encouraged and helped you early in your career.

"The thing I loved about John was his passion for new music and his praise for things he totally believed in."

The track is released next month (NOV05) and all proceeds go to human rights charity AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL.

Longtime BBC presenter Peel died in October 2004 at the age of 65.
