British TV star Elliott Tittensor has been attacked outside a London court just minutes after he was sentenced for his part in a car accident which left a teenager with serious injuries.
The Shameless star was accused of hitting teenager Oliver Flint with his car in August (10). The 18 year old was left fighting for his life in hospital and suffered permanent damage to one of his eyes.
Tittensor was initially questioned by police on suspicion of attempted murder, but cops dropped the investigation and charged him with driving without insurance.
He pleaded guilty to the charge at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (02Nov10) and was issued with a $1,125 (£750) fine.
As he was walking down the steps outside the court, the actor was punched in the face by an unknown assailant.
Three police officers immediately restrained a man and led him away down a side street.
An onlooker tells BBC Online, "(Tittensor) was walking down the steps when a guy tapped him on the shoulder and just smacked him in the stomach all of a sudden. He came from nowhere, I don't know who he was."
It is not known whether the man was arrested over the incident, or whether Tittensor was injured in the attack.
