British singer Ellie Goulding was so shocked when FLORENCE WELCH praised her music, she checked herself into hospital over fears she was "having a heart attack."
The newcomer, who landed the Critics Choice Award at last month's (Feb10) BRIT Awards, was hired to open for Welsh at a gig last year (09) with her band Florence and the MAChine.
Goulding admits she suffered a panic attack when Welch complimented her music - and immediately sought the advice of doctors.
She says, "Before Christmas, I started to get very, very uncalm (sic). I did a gig with Florence and the MAChine, who came up to me, squeezed me and said she kept playing my song over and over again. So I did the usual ‘Oh my God, that’s great’, very casual - but there were two people at the same time.
"One (part) was me going 'Aaargh', and the other was really calm. They clashed that night. These two people bumped into each other, and it was a disaster.
"I ended up feeling really upset and weird, it felt like having a heart attack. I actually went to A&E (a hospital's accident and emergency unit). I think that was a warning: that my body had to deal with the other person."
