The 26-year-old singer is releasing an expanded version of her 2012 album 'Halcyon' and when she was choosing tracks for it, included tracks made in a number of different styles.
She explained to Radio.com: ''I don't want to think I can't do [something] because no one's ever done it before. I've always combined my love of folk music with electronic music and pop music. It works for me,
''It's not the easiest task in the world, but it seems to work for me and I seem to have engaged people. If I can keep going and I can keep bringing people together like I did at Lollapalooza [Chicago music festival], then I'm f***ing winning. I love it.''
Tracks included on the expanded version of the album include collaborations with Dj Fresh, Greg Kurstin and Nate Ruess from Fun, and Ellie felt they would fit well with the tracks on the original record rather than starting a new one.
She added: ''Basically, after my album came out, it's been a weird time for me, I feel like now I'm so much deeper into 'Halcyon' that I just wanted to expand it. I wanted it to last longer, because I'm not done with this record yet. For anyone else, it might be a time to move on and make another record, but I don't think it's the end yet.''
