That proposal was so beautiful. I hope they do the ceremony in Act 8. #Emmys
The comedian is returning to stand-up for the first time in 15 years.
Ellen Degeneres is returning to stand-up comedy with a new special for Netflix. It's been a decade and half since the talk show host's last stand-up special, so it didn't take much persuasion from the streaming company to convince her to get back in the game.

It's now been announced that Ellen DeGeneres will return for a stand-up comedy special for Netflix, after she responded to a Tweet from the streaming service yesterday (May 24th 2017) reading: 'Looks like it's been 15 years since you did a stand-up special, @TheEllenShow. The popular talk show host did herself a spectacular injury while trying to save two glasses of wine.
Ellen Degeneres has told her audience about how she sustained a rather nasty injury while attempting to save two glasses of wine she was holding, falling “into a door” and dislocating her finger. Ouch!
Speaking to her crowd on Tuesday morning’s episode of her talk show (March 21st) before welcoming her guest, Claire Danes, she held up her hand in a splint to begin her story.
“I have something to show you — it’s that right here,” she said. “Can you see it? I broke my finger. I know what you’re thinking: ‘How can you host a show without the tip of your ring finger?!’ I’m not going to let this thing beat me. I am not!”

The talk-show hosts addresses the remarks with grace.
Ellen Degeneres has addressed the recent scandal surrounding gospel singer Kim Burrell, who was recently axed from the talk-show host's show after a video emerged of her regurgitating a string of homophobic comments ahead of her appearance. She spoke about the issue while interviewing Pharrell.

Ellen has responded peacefully and without judgement to the situation regarding Burrell's anti-gay rant on a Facebook Live video, and explained that hateful comments like that merely encourage her to show more kindness and acceptance of people.

Gospel singer Burrell gave a sermon in a church earlier this week in which she reportedly called homosexuals "perverted".
Janelle Monae has responded to the firestorm created by Kim Burrell’s recent homophobic rant, telling her fans that the gospel singer will not be performing with her and Pharrell Williams on the ‘Ellen Degeneres Show’ later this week.
The three singers were scheduled to perform their song ‘I See a Victory’ from the movie Hidden Figures – of which Monae herself is a star – on DeGeneres’ show on Thursday this week (January 5th). However, Burrell has been castigated for a recent sermon she delivered at a church in Houston where she described homosexuals as “perverted”.
The gospel singer, 44, has compounded the anger directed at her for refusing to back down or apologise for her comments in a later Facebook Live broadcast.
No-one deserves this more than our favourite talk-show host.
Ellen Degeneres journeyed to Washington DC this week to pick up her very well deserved Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama, who honoured her for her achievements in comedy and humility. Nothing could ruin this star's day - not even being temporarily barred from the White House.

The model wanted to go on a "digital detox"
Social media fan Kendall Jenner surprised her millions of followers earlier this week by deleting her Instagram profile without any explanation. However, it now seems that this wasn’t a hack or a mistake but a conscious effort to have a bit of a break.

Miley tells fans she prepared for the role by even kissing a girl backstage
Miley Cyrus can add talk show host to her growing repertoire after filling in for Ellen Degeneres when the star was too sick to front The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday. The singing starlet took over the hot seat and promoted herself to the audience as someone ready to fill in Ellen’s shoes.
Miley Cyrus helped out Ellen DeGeneres when she wasn't feeling too well
Announcing the new host on Twitter, DeGeneres wrote: "The bad news is I’m sick & can’t tape my show today. The good news is @MileyCyrus dropped everything to host for me. Thanks, Miley!"
The talk show host angered some on Twitter when she posted a photoshopped image of herself on the gold medalist’s back.
Ellen Degeneres has defended herself on Twitter after she was accused of racism over a meme she shared featuring Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt. DeGeneres posted the meme on Monday and overnight she found herself at the center of a social media controversy, leading her to address the issue the next day.
DeGeneres had posted a photoshopped version of an image of Bolt smiling, as he sprinted to victory in the men's 100m semifinal at the Olympics in Rio. She had placed herself on the back of the gold medalist with the caption, "This is how I'm running errands from now on."
It's been 13 years since the release of the Disney/Pixar hit Finding Nemo, and filmmaker Andrew Stanton has opted to make a spin-off instead of a direct sequel, shifting the perspective to recount the life story of the forgetful blue tang. Because it centres on a personal quest, it's a very different style of movie, which makes some of the action feel rather contrived. But the characters are still vivid and likeable, and it's packed with meaningful themes.
The film opens with young Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres) being taught by her parents (Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy) how to cope with her short-term memory problem. But she still gets lost. Then years later, after her adventure teaming up with Marlin (Albert Brooks) to help find his son Nemo (Hayden Rolence), she has a brief spark of memory and decides to find her family. Accompanied by Marlin and Nemo, Dory crosses the ocean to a California marine sanctuary, where they get separated. Dory gets help from cranky seven-tentacled Octopus Hank (Ed O'Neill), the perky whale shark Destiny (Kaitlin Olson) and a befuddled beluga whale (Ty Burrell). Meanwhile, Marlin and Nemo meet a pair of laddish sea lions (Idris Elba and Dominic West).

The sequel brought in $136.2 million domestically.
Not unexpectedly, 'Finding Dory' has made not so much a splash at the weekend box office (June 17th 2016), but more a humongous tidal wave. The Disney Pixar animation has broken the record for the highest grossing animated debut in history. The 2018 release of 'Toy Story 4' has got a lot to live up to.
Finding Dory blows other animations out of the water
'Finding Dory' has followed the success of its predecessor by becoming the biggest opening for an animated film ever, bringing in $136.2 million domestically and beating 2007's 'Shrek the Third' (a Dreamworks feature) which had a $121.6 million debut.

It's been 13 years since Finding Nemo took the world by storm, becoming one of Pixar's most successful films of all time.
Now writer-director Andrew Stanton is back, along with Ellen Degeneres voicing the forgetful blue tang Dory. In her varied career, from stand-up comic to sitcom star to talk show queen, DeGeneres has found Dory to be one of her most indelible alter-egos, so it wasn't difficult for her to return to the role, as Dory reflects her own approach to the world. "I think my comedy came from observing little details in life," she says. "What is most important are the details, not the broad strokes but noticing what's in between."
DeGeneres says that she's always been very sensitive, and tries to make people laugh without ridiculing anyone. "There's so much to laugh at without it being at someone else's expense," she says. And she applies this same positivity and honesty to every aspect of her life. "When you're gay and you're successful in this business, your whole team says, 'Don't rock the boat. You're doing fine - we know you're gay but, you know, just keep it down.' And I just thought, what's equally as important as my career is living my life without shame."

A successful outing from Pixar, not that we ever doubted it.
'Finding Dory' finally arrives in cinemas and it appears that this long awaited sequel to the much-adored 'Finding Nemo' was totally worth the wait - for fans of the original at least. Critics can't get enough of the overwhelming emotion of the movie, nor of its resonance in the world of childhood disability.
'Finding Dory' is probably the best sequel of the year
For every critic who's dismissing 'Finding Dory' as unoriginal, another one is exalting it for its sensitivity and relevance; suitably adapted for this decade but still remaining inescapably familiar after 13 years. 'It's like meeting up with an old friend and realizing that somehow, in spite of all the years and distance, no time has passed at all', Consequence Of Sound wrote.

The Sultan of Brunei has brought in Shariah law, celebs react in their outraged hoards.

As a result of the Brunei law-making, celebrities and other powerful individuals who used to frequent one of the high-end hotels have collectively put their foot down to boycott the chain.
Jodie Foster has married her girlfriend of a year, Alexandra Hedison. But who is the Los Angeles photographer?
Jodie Foster has married her girlfriend of a year, Alexandra Hedison. The nuptials have been confirmed by Foster’s publicist, after celebrity network E! began circulating rumors over the weekend. The pair wed at an undisclosed location, although Foster resides in California, which is one of the 17 US states in which gay marriage is legal. Hedison was born and raised in California, so it’s likely that it is where the wedding took place.

Oscar-winning actress Jodie Foster publicly came out at last year’s Golden Globes, announcing “I already did my coming out about a thousand years ago, back in the stone age. In those very quaint days when a fragile young girl would open up to trusted friends and family, coworkers and then gradually, proudly to everyone who knew her. To everyone she actually met.”

Foster and her now-wife have reportedly been dating for about a year.
According to The Telegraph, Ms Hedison, 44, has been linked previously to comedienne Ellen Degeneres. Foster and Hedison had been seen in each other’s company in Los Angeles on a number of occasions, fuelling speculation about their relationship.

The pair are back; will they get it right this time?
Okay, ready for another awards season? The dust has barely settled on 2014’s selfie-centric Oscars, but the Academy are already looking ahead to another winter of speculation by confirming Neil Meron and Craig Zadan are returning as producers for a third ceremony in a row.
Zadan and Meron will work on The Oscars again
It’s not as if the pair have gleaned critical acclaim for their last two efforts; Seth Macfarlane’s ceremony was considered to be too focussed on musicals, while DeGeneres’ was criticised for being too boring. Perhaps the producer pair can find some middle ground considering they’re taking on the middle of the decade in 2015.
Zadan and Meron have been invited back, which means we can once again expect a digitally active Oscars ceremony.
The directorial duo Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have become favorites around Hollywood come awards season and now they’ve been called on again to produce the 2015 Oscars ceremony. This will be Zadan and Meron’s third consecutive year running the live broadcast after this year’s ceremony brought in the best ratings in 14 years. Almost 44 million viewers in the United States tuned into the ABC live telecast of Hollywood's biggest night, hosted by comedian, talk show host and potential demigod Ellen Degeneres, 8 percent more than the previous year and the highest number since 2000, according to Nielsen ratings data, via Reuters.
Zadan and Meron's last turn at the Oscars was nothing short of a rousing success.
Whatever Zadan and Meron are doing – so far they have been banking on broad social media appeal – has been working.
Piers Morgan has criticised the US government for quailing under pressure from the gun lobby. Morgan delivered an impassioned speech on the last episode of his CNN show 'Piers Morgan Live'.
Piers Morgan ended his three year run on his CNN talk show Piers Morgan Live on Friday (28th March) with a plea to the US government to change "the absurd gun laws".Morgan's show was cancelled following low ratings and possibly his involvement in the phone hacking scandal, nevertheless he left the show on a somewhat controversial note.
Morgan, ever controversial, used his final show as an opportunity to comment on the social and political implications of gun laws in the US. He referenced recent tragedies in which guns were used to kill large numbers of people which prompted criticism of gun laws in the US and worldwide.
Morgan has spent a number of years in the states over the past decade and described gun violence, such as that displayed in the Connecticut Sandy Hook massacre and the Colorado Aurora Cinema, as "a disease that infects every aspect of American life". Referencing these attacks Morgan said, as The Independent reports: "I assumed that after 70 people were shot in a movie theatre and then just a few months later 20 first-graders were murdered with an assault rifle in an elementary school, that the absurd gun laws in this country would change, but nothing has happened".

Ellen DeGeneres stole the show on Sunday's Academy Awards, we look at how far she has come since her early days on the comedy circuit in the 1980's.
Ellen Degeneres has become the most popular and loved television host in the States, cemented by her flawless performance hosting the Academy Awards on Sunday night. Ellen had the celebrities roaring with laughter as well as, at one stage, gathered together for a selfie. Ellen’s superstar selfie was retweeted over 2,000,000 times, crashing the server and making it the most retweeted pic of all time.
Ellen and her wife Portia have been married since 2008
Ellen had previously hosted the Oscars back in 2007, but even by then she had been in the business for over 20 years. Ellen started in the stand up biz back in the early 1980’s, before getting her own sitcom Ellen in 1994. During the fourth season of the sitcom, Ellen publicly announced that she was a lesbian during an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Her character in the sitcom shortly followed suit and, in an episode called “The Puppy Episode”, which received some of the highest-ratings that Ellen had had so far, also came out. The show then went on to tackle some issues faced by the LGBT community, but after another season the show was axed due to falling ratings.

"Adele Dazeem" - the words that will haunt John Travolta, forever more.
There’s a fine line between the ignominy of Internet mockery and online hysteria. Jennifer Lawrence, for instance, enjoys the latter, while John Travolta calling Idina Menzel "Adele Dazeem" at the Oscars on Sunday night really secures you a place in the former camp.
There's something ridiculous about John Travolta - we just can't work out what it is
But this mockery isn’t all bad; after all, he only got someone’s name wrong. He did embellish the introduction with things like “wickedly talented” etc., but he only got Menzel’s name wrong.
The official Academy Awards after party was a glamorous affair.
The Governor's Ball once again played host to the biggest names in filmmaking this year as Oscar winners, nominees and guests filled the glamorous after party with celebration. After an immense and monumental year in filmmaking, there was plenty to celebrate as winners clutched their shiny trophies and hob-nobbed with the press.
Ellen Degeneres Was The Talk Of The Evening After A Triumphant Hosting Stint.
The party room was decked out with floral curtains which gave an enchanting midnight garden effect and provided a beautiful backdrop for the many flowing ballgowns. Whilst waiting to get their statuettes engraved with their name, Oscar winners were treated to a bar, entertainment from singer John Legend and a gourmet meal cooked by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck served on tables decorated with miniature chocolate Oscars.

Selfies, pizza and audience participation Ellen manages to turn the Oscars into an awesome party.

This year's Oscars were the most 'selfied' yet as the stars shared their pics with the world.
One way to view the Academy Awards last night was through the eyes of the stars themselves, as many of them took to Instagram and Twitter to keep us up to date with their Oscar night happenings.
Some stars started their picture taking before they even got to the ceremony, like Joseph Gordon-Levitt who tweeted a pic of himself literally on his way to the awards, taking a selfie in his limousine. Joseph later shared a picture of himself and co-presenter Emma Watson having fun pulling some faces backstage.

Ellen DeGeneres' Oscars selfie may well have shifted a ton of Samsung Galaxy Note 3's. Just check out that crisp quality.
Ok, so we don't know if Samsung has seen a sales spike in their Galaxy Note 3 model since the Academy Awards, but Ellen Degeneres Oscars selfie wouldn't have hurt interest in the technology giant's popular cell-phone.
Ellen DeGeneres' Oscars Selfie is the most retweeted image in history
In case you've been holed away for the past 24 hours, you'll have heard about Ellen's famous Oscars selfie, which broke the record for the most re-tweeted post ever and apparently 'broke' the micro-blogging website. Yep, the Academy Awards host - who did a pretty damn good job of things - gathered together a few A-list friends including Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey and Meryl Streep for the most famous selfie in history.
Not everyone had a fabulous time at last night's Oscars.
Liza Minnelli didn't have exactly the best time at last night's Oscars. As one of Hollywood's biggest veteran stars, the actress didn't receive the respect that a performer of her calibre would deserve. From being the target of a mean zing from Ellen Degeneres, to having her outfit mocked in the media and being laughed at for not being able to reach into the famous 'Oscars Selfie' in time, Liza could have had a nicer evening at home.
Liza Minnelli Hasn't Been Treated So Kindly In The Wake Of The Oscars.
The glamorous awards evening started on the red carpet where Liza, the daughter of Judy Garland, debuted a striking new streak of blue in her black hair and wore a matching silky pantsuit with dramatic diamond jewellery. As the snaps of Minnelli hit the internet, commenters began to point out and mock the fact that the actress probably wasn't wearing a bra under her slinky suit.
The Ellen DeGeneres Oscars Selfie: did Jennifer Lawrence have the best pose or was it Bradley Cooper, Brad Pitt...or Kevin Spacey?
Pretty much everyone has seen the Ellen Degeneres Oscars selfie by now; the celeb-packed pic that sent the Twittersphere into melt-down and quickly became the most retweeted image of all time. The Oscars host somehow gathered the cream of the awards' red carpet for last night's impromptu snap, which has become the evening's most shared and talked about image.
Ellen DeGeneres Oscar Selfie Has Become The Most-Shared Image On Twitter.
The glory of the Oscars selfie lies in the pure and unabashed joy seen on every one of its twelve featured Hollywood stars' faces. Gone are the pouts, poses and glowers of the red carpet pap-snap and instead we have a bunch of gorgeous and joyous actors ready to party at the year's biggest movie awards.
No awards? No matter! Brangelina was centre of attention at the Oscars.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie once again made sure all eyes were on them at last night's Academy Awards as they led the Hollywood royalty down the red carpet whilst looking very much the loved-up pair. The acting duo were virtually inseparable when posing for photos on the red carpet, making sure they were always touching and flashing dazzling smiles.
Brad Pitt & Angelina Echoed The BAFTAs In Their Oscars Union.
After last month's BAFTAs in London where the couple appeared in a matching tuxedo ensemble, Angelina decided to opt for a more feminine look at the Oscars and picked out a sparkling metallic and sheer gown by Elie Saab Haute Couture with diamond earrings and smoky eyes. Brad, as usual, played it safe with another classic and well-cut tuxedo and bowtie.
Ellen DeGeneres' opening monologue, at the 86th Academy-Awards, is expected to be less offensive and more cautious due to the delicate nature of this year's film nominee's.
The 86th Academy-Awards will be honouring one of the most impressive years for cinema in recent memory.
However, it will also be one of the most sensitive, as several of the key films depict real-life events.
With this in mind, it won't be surprising if the host, Ellen Degeneres, performs a far more tamed opening monologue compared last year's emcee, Seth MacFarlane.
How will the well respected host handle her second Oscars?
There are two of Oscar host: the one who’ll set out to insult as many people whilsy trying not to cross an invisible headline with a view to entertaining the audience at home, and then there’s the type who knows his-or-her-limits, and can be relied upon to give a solid performance. Ellen Degeneres almost certainly falls under the latter category.

This year's show might not be as controversial, but Zadan and Meron are still going all out.
Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron made a controversial hit out of the Oscars last year, but they might be on thin ice this time. Getting Seth McFarlane to host anything is a risky bet and his antics last year got a lot of people – notably the feminist crowd – pretty riled up. The controversy served its purpose. Last year’s show pulled in 40.3 million US viewers, the largest audience the show has had in three years. Zadan and Meron’s show was a hit with the key 18-49 demographic and the duo were invited back this year.
Ellen might be a safer choice for host, but she is far from boring.
And yet. The choice of Ellen for this year’s host suggests that the producers were at least a little bit intimidated by last year’s backlash. This year’s host, Ellen, while hilarious and ever entertaining, is a much safer option and has proven appeal with the Oscars’ key demo – women.

The People's Choice Awards kicks started awards season and the celebrities didn't let down as they came out in force and with style in Los Angeles for the fan-favourites awards show on Wednesday, 8 January. The 40th incarnation of the awards show, there was no shortage of class and glamour as the people's favourite movies, TV shows, actors and actresses were singled out over the course of the night.

Bullock's wins included Favorite Movie Actress, Comedic Actress, Dramatic Actress and she shared the Favorite Movie Duo award with her Gravity co-star George Clooney. The buddy cop comedy The Heat that she starred in with Melissa McCarthy won the Favourite Comedic Movie award.
The first Oscars promo was released today and it's... different.
The brand new trailer for the Oscars with host Ellen Degeneres looks more like it’s promoting the Tony Awards than the stuffy, glitzy Academy Awards. Not that anyone would mind – a choreographed dance number is always alright with us and if it includes tuxedoes, that’s even better.
With Degeneres hosting, it'll be an Oscars ceremony like no other.
While it doesn’t really feature any movie references, the minute-long video sets an entirely different tone for the awards than the one we’re used to. This looks more like something out of the Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s Golden Globes or Neil Patrick Harris’ Oscars, rather than the most competitive movie awards ceremony in Hollywood.

The 'Glee' star appeared on 'Ellen' this week where she finally opened up about the death of her boyfriend
Five months after the untimely death of actor Cory Monteith, his Glee co-star and girlfriend both on and off screen Lea Michele has finally opened up about the passing and explained how she has coped with her grief. Appearing on The Ellen Degeneres Show this week, the actress told Ellen that she has been slowly moving on from the passing, as that is what Cory would have wanted her to do.
Lea and Cory were very much in love before his passing
The 27-year-old actress went on to explain how, even to this day, she is trying to cope with the loss and described the immense heartache and confusion she felt and still feels now. In spite of her grief, Michele told Ellen that she knew she couldn't dwell on Monteith's passing because it would bring her too far down. Instead she has focused all her energy on her career as she tries to do her best for Cory, to do his memory right.

Kaley Cuoco may have had a whirlwind romance with current partner Ryan Sweeting, but was it a whirlwind marriage we saw on 'Ellen Degeneres'?
'The Big Bang Theory' actress appeared on the show in an episode that was aired yesterday (November 7th 2013) and was surprised to see her lover of five months appear on stage. Ellen then roped in her friend Kevin - an apparently ordained minister - to conduct a short service declaring them both husband and wife. Ryan nervously asked, 'This isn't legal, right?' before the talk show host insisted it was and later reemphasised the fact on Twitter: 'Congratulations, @KaleyCuoco and @RyanSweeets. Your wedding was beautiful. And also, legally binding.'
However, we're not so sure it was the real deal here at Contactmusic. It's easy enough to be a minister online, but you can't be legally wed without a marriage license; so sorry to you romantic folk hoping you'd witnessed such a special moment. Also, it was rather obvious Ellen was joking about her Twitter post after re-Tweeting Ryan's message ('Thank you @TheEllenShow for making me feel at home. Baby number one: Ellen Sweeting') with the comment, 'This tweet is legally binding, too.'
The pair were wedded in an impromptu ceremony live on the show, after Cuoco had said she wants to get married as soon as possible.
Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting are married! Well, not exactly, or at all really, but they did provide pretty entertaining TV at least. The Big Bang Theory star and her professional tennis player lover man were pushed to exchange vows on the Ellen Degeneres Show by the shows host in an impromptu ceremony set up in their honour.
Sweeting and Cuoco got engaged in September
"This isn't legal, right?" Sweetings asked his bride-to-be as she was pushed by DeGeneres towards the makeshift canopy where he and head writer Kevin A. Leman II stood. Cuoco had been discussing life with her fiance, whom she got engaged to in September after three months of dating, when Ellen offered her the chance of an immediate wedding at the show's expense - an offer that she jumped at.

Kaley Cuoco appeared on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' yesterday (6th November) and wed her fiancé on air. But don't worry, it's not a legally binding ceremony! This is not the first fake wedding the 'Big Bang Theory' star has been involved in as she was on set of 'The Wedding Ringer' in a white dress, but with a very different groom!
Kaley Cuoco and her fiancé, Ryan Sweeting, had an informal wedding rehearsal on national television when they appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show on Wednesday 6th November. Cuoco joined Ellen and discussed her engagement.
The couple at the 65th Emmy Awards, shortly before their engagement.
Ellen then thrust an impromptu wedding on her and Sweeting. In a strange twist of fate, something Cuoco also commented on, she was even wearing a white dress! The ceremony was carried out by one of the show's writers, although Sweetling appeared to be slightly hesitant about the fake wedding asking "This isn't legal right?"

The organisers behind the awards show have taken the safest option by picking the comic and talk show host to follow Seth McFarlane.
Ellen Degeneres has been picked as the host of next years Academy Awards ceremony, as organisers look to boost ratings and eliminate any potential controversy with next year's show. DeGeneres was picked from a nearly-bottomless list of potential candidates, emerging as the safest bet and the host most likely to guarantee a decent audience turnaround when the show is aired next year.
Ellen will host the Oscars for a second time next year
As first reported by Variety, Ellen is by no means a stranger to the awards show-circuit, having previously hosted the 2001 and 2005 Emmys and the Oscars in 2007, all of which produced very strong viewer-ratings, a feat that the show's organisers will hope can be replicated when she takes on hosting duties at the 2014 Oscars. Whilst her last hosting job came more than half a decade ago, her popularity has shown no signs of diminishing and if anything, Ellen has become an even bigger name with each passing year and her appointment seems to mirror her ever-ascending success.

In a female dominated list, Oprah is back!
Forbes have just released their 100 Most Influential Entertainers list and Oprah has made a comeback as No. 1. True, it might not be a real comeback, considering that she only dropped to No. 2 in the past two years, but this is Oprah Winfrey we’re talking about – the woman never does anything halfway, comebacks included. According to Forbes, Winfrey has had an $88 million drop in earnings between June of last year and June 2013. However, the chart makes it clear that other factors, besides earnings are also taken into consideration when creating the list.
This year Winfrey returnes to her rightful place.
And while it is unknown exactly what those factors are – marketability, social media presence and entrepreneurial decisions are thought to be among them – Winfrey’s handling of the nosedive her OWN network took in the last two years, as well as her management of the rest of her media empire, including O Magazine, a network on Sirius XM and shows by protégés like Dr Phil means that she once again fits the bill. Winfrey made $77 million last year, down significantly from $165 million for the same period last year. That’s still a lot of money though, even for the entertainment industry, and the media empress is set to increase said profits in the coming year, as her newly rebuilt OWN network is predicted to begin turning a profit by the end of 2013. This year, OWN has undergone a complete overhaul, cutting out unprofitable project and replacing them with original programming, created by Winfrey herself with the help of Tyler Perry – another Forbes 100 staple.
The comedienne is working with Jeff Kleeman to bring Graham's first novel to the small screen
Ellen Degeneres will produce a new television series based on Lauren Graham's debut novel, Someday, Someday, Maybe, with the book being turned into a one-hour drama series for Warner Bros. TV. Graham is currently in the process of developing her work for the screen, The Hollywood Reported confirmed on Tuesday (June 11) this week.
The Gilmore Girls actress released the semi-autobiographical account of her time in New York as a young, budding actress earlier this year, with the book reaching the top-spot of the New York Times bestseller list upon it's release. Graham will write the script, which will stick to the story of a young woman who has reached the final six months of her three-year plan to make it as an actress whilst living in New York City.
Jeff Kleeman will be producing the series with DeGeneres and will see Graham team up with Warner Bros. for the first time since the end of her seven season-run on The Gilmore Girls. The series is in a foetus-like stage at the moment, with no potential stars lined-up for the show as of yet. We'll keep you posted on developments as they progress.

Courteney Cox and David Arquette have finalized their divorce, but their friendship is stronger than ever.
Courteney Cox's divorce from David Arquette is finally complete, two years after the couple decided to end their decade long marriage. "Irreconcilable differences have caused the irremediable breaking of the marriage," say the papers signed by Cox, Arquette and a judge. "The marital status of the parties is terminated."
Friends actress Cox, 48, and movie actor Arquette, 41, announced their separate way back in October 2010 and both filed divorce papers on the same day in June 2012. By all accounts, the couple have behaved admirably through the divorce and it's easily one of the most amicable celebrity breakups of recent times - probably owing to their 8-year-old daughter Coco. The couple remain the tightest of friends, "He's my best friend in the world," the Cougar Town star said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in January. "I love him." The following week, Scream actor Arquette told People magazine, "She's incredible. ... I love her, too, and she's an amazing person, a beautiful person. I don't recommend divorce in general, but he is my best friend and we've both grown and changed, and I think we both appreciate each other more. I hope he does. I do."
Following their split, apparently over Arquette's infidelity, Courteney and Coco regularly turned out to watch the actor during his stint on Dancing with the Stars.

Breaking news: gorgeous actress Amanda Seyfried feels good naked.
Amanda Seyfried doesn’t have any body image issues concerning her breasts – not anymore at least. The actress was recently a guest on The Ellen Degeneres Show and the conversation somehow turned to the size of Amanda’s assets – which the actress clearly had no problem with. She did advocate against harsh diets though, saying: "I looked way better when I was 15. I had huge breasts, and then I came to Hollywood and I was like 'I got to lose weight. I got to look thin and fit,' and I lost them a little bit."
The actress admitted that she now has no problem with the size and shape of any part of her body, but it did take her a while to get to this point. When Ellen asked whether Seyfried now thinks she looks good naked, the Red Riding Hood actress had this to say: "At this point in my life I do. Because you know what, it just doesn't matter anymore. You just have to. Like, when you're young you don't appreciate it, and I feel like everyone that's a bit older wishes they appreciated when they were young."
The topic came about when Amanda and Ellen were discussing Seyfried’s recent appearance in Allure magazine’s 'How to Look Good Naked' issue. When asked by the host why she was the only woman in the issue, who wasn’t actually naked (so don't waste your time scouring Google), Seyfried answered: “I really don’t know. No one asked me to be. I don’t wanna take it personally, but no one mentioned nudity.”

'Epic' star Amanda Seyfried confesses her breasts got smaller when she got in acting due to pressure to lose weight.
Amanda Seyfried laments her weight loss when she moved to Hollywood because she lost her 'beautiful huge breasts' that she possessed as a teenager.
In an interview on 'The Ellen Degeneres Show', the 'Les Miserables' star was asked if she felt that she looked good naked. 'At this point in my life, I do', she said, adding that she thinks that most older people wished that they'd appreciated what they had when they were young. 'I looked way better when I was 15', she confessed. 'I had beautiful huge breasts and then I came to Hollywood and I was like, 'I gotta lose weight, I gotta look thin and fit' and I lost them a little bit.' The 27-year-old insisted, however, that she didn't miss them because they were 'quite uncomfortable' but claimed that she had 'some nice curves' and thinks that women should embrace their figures 'as opposed to trying to get rid of everything all the time.'
It might have been a case of TMI for many viewers, but she nonetheless earned applause from the studio crowd with her empowering comments on the pressures of being too slim. The star didn't have to worry too much about her figure in her recent project though which saw her voice protagonist MK in the animated movie 'Epic' which is now out in movie theatres.

Amanda Seyfried says she lost weight after moving to Hollywood.
Les Miserables actress Amanda Seyfried says she lost her "beautiful, huge breasts" after moving to Hollywood to pursue a career in movies. The 27-year-old - who plays Linda Lovelace in a forthcoming biopic - called in on the Ellen Degeneres show this week to discuss her beginnings.
"I looked way better when I was 15. I had beautiful, huge breasts!" the actress explained, "And then I came to Hollywood and I was like I gotta lose weight. I gotta look thin. I gotta get fit. And I lost them a little bit." It seems she lost more than "a little bit," telling DeGeneres she was an D cup though that she doesn't miss them, "...because they were ... uncomfortable."
Despite her own decisions, Seyfried warned, "I was feminine. I had some nice curves. And I think we should appreciate that instead of trying to get rid of everything."

The Ellen show became the cause for the long awaited reunion.
Jennifer Aniston got to co-host The Ellen Degeneres Show this week and gave us all a mini Friends reunion in the process. In the slightly awkward, slightly confusing bit, Aniston was nervous about the gig and she naturally went to her former co-star Matthew Perry for some sage advice. Except Perry wasn’t exactly thrilled to see her at the door, at 8AM no less. And when Aniston objected that they “used to do walk into each other’s apartments all the time”, Perry made a valid point (which went straight to the hearts of Friends fans).
Anniston was apparently the brains behind the reunion.
"That was a TV show," he counters. "We haven't actually seen each other in a really long time. Like eight years."

This week's episode of Ellen saw half of the Friends cast reunited.
Well, the long awaited Friends reunion finally happened, though probably not in the way fans of the show had hoped. It might have been a three-minute sketch with just three of the show’s stars, but hey, we take what we can get. The occasion was Jennifer Aniston’s gig co-hosting The Ellen Degeneres Show.
The premise was pretty simple – Jen is nervous and so she goes to seek hosting advice from a veteran – her longtime pal and Friends co-star, Matthew Perry. Except Perry is not really in the mood to talk (“Maybe you shouldn’t show up at somebody’s house at 8AM and you should call first”) To Jen’s dismay, things have changed between the Friends, or maybe, as Perry hints, they were never really all that friendly and it was all just an act for the cameras. Except that’s when Courteney Cox (aka Monica) comes out of his house and the, ahem, stuff hits the fan.
“Court!” Aniston exclaims.

Cher's visit to The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week was definitely a family affair.
Cher stopped by Ellen yesterday to have for a chat about her life, her career and her son Chaz. Not before a quick outfit change for Ellen though, as it turned out she and Cher were wearing the same thing! Ok, they weren’t really, the whole thing was a gag by Ellen to tease her iconic guest’s appearance. On the day before, the talk show host tweeted a digitally altered image of Cher’s body in her infamous sequined bodysuit, but with Ellen’s head, instead of her own, The Daily Mail reports. Ah, the magic of image-altering software! The sailor hat was a nice touch as well.
The gags were set aside during Cher’s actual visit though, as she, her 86-year-old mother 86-year-old mother Georgia Holt and her 61-year-old half-sister Georganne LaPiere talked to Ellen about the coming out story of Cher’s son, Chaz Bono. Apparently Chaz didn’t go the traditional route and instead came out to his grandmother first, with Cher being the last one to find out that her son was gay.
'That's a big deal to come out to the grandmother,' DeGeneres said.

Jennifer Aniston appeared on Ellen DeGeneres' show today to address the rumours about a potential Friends reunion.
Jennifer Aniston dropped by The Ellen Degeneres Show today (April 18) to talk upcoming releases, scaring tactics and share a few personal details too, however one subject of conversation stood out among the rest and that was the potential Friends reunion. Ever since the show came to an end in 2004 there have been rumours of a reunion show/feature length movie, but in recent weeks this chatter has been louder than ever. So, will there be a reunion happening?
According to Jen, the answer is unfortunately a resounding no. The actress stated that the only mutterings of a potential Friends reunion have come from Ellen herself or internet rumours as she insisted that as far as she knows it, there isn't going to be a reunion between the Central Perk regulars. “I’m responsible for the entire Friends reunion that’s going to happen. Or is it?” DeGeneres asks, her question greeted by rounds of cheers from the studio audience. “Well, you’re hearing it here first…as am I, “ the actress, who played Rachel Green on the hit sitcom replied, asking, “Did Matthew Perry start that? Because he’s been getting some good airtime on this show. I’ve been watching.”
Jen is the latest person to deny the rumours of a Friends reunion in the space of a week, with the show's co-creator Mara Hoffman denying the reunion rumours to E! News on Tuesday (April 16) night at the premiere of Call Me Crazy premiere. Looks like we'll have to keep on waiting fellow Friends fans because a reunion show is looking less and less likely with each passing day.
Both Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres have signed on for the Finding Nemo sequel, Finding Dory.
Disney Pixar has announced plans to release Finding Dory, the sequel to the smash hit Finding Nemo, in November 2015. The sequel has long been in the works, though Pixar has finally tied up deals for Ellen GeDeneres, Albert Brooks and director Andrew Stanton to return.
The sequel will focus on DeGeneres' Dory character, though according to Deadline.com, it was Brooks that took the most persuading to return. Earlier this year, the veteran finally closed a "fat deal" to reprise the voice of Marlin. The actor has enjoy somewhat of a renaissance since starring in the original movie, starring in Judd Apatow's This Is 40, as well as the bad-add Bernie Rose in Nicolas Refn Winding's Drive. He's also working on another novel, after his debut Twenty Thirty: The Real Story of What Happened To America became an instant bestseller. There's also talk that Brooks will write and direct another comedy, similar to The Muse and Lost In America.
Anyway, it's all speculation for now, as Brooks has committed to Finding Dory, considered by Pixar as another chance to break animation records. Announcing her involvement this week, DeGeneres said in a statement, "I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long time."

Ellen DeGeneres returns as Dory for the Finding Nemo sequel, but this time, the focus is very much on her.
Dory - the little blue fish voiced by talk show host Ellen Degeneres - will be the focus of the Finding Nemo sequel Finding Dory, announced by Pixar this week. The follow-up to the 2003 Oscar winner will be directed by original Nemo filmmaker Andrew Stanton and is set for release on November 25, 2015.
"I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time," DeGeneres said in a press release. "I'm not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating Toy Story 16. But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It's got a lot of heart, it's really funny, and the best part is - it's got a lot more Dory." Pixar - who have worked long and hard to prepare the Nemo sequel - say the film is "set in part along the California coastline" and will feature returning favorites, however it also "welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory's life."
It marks the latest sequel/prequel in Pixar's oeuvre, along with the Toy Story movies, Cars and the forthcoming Monster's Inc prequel Monster's University, set for release this summer. Elsewhere, the Disney-owned company has a follow-up to Oscar-winner Brave on the horizon, as well as The Good Dinosaur, directed by Bob Petersen, a new project helmed by Up's Peter Doctor and an untitled movie about the Day of the Dead, directed by Nemo co-helmer Lee Unkrich, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

It's safe to say Katy Perry stole the entire show at the Grammy awards on Sunday evening (February 10, 2013) in a mint green Gucci dress that featured a rather revealing keyhole cut-out. It quickly caused excitement on Twitter, with fans of the star lauding her daring choice of dress. It wasn't just her followers who noticed either, with various amusing photographs of celebrities in awe of Perry's, ugh, assets, circulating online today.
Elton John, of all people, was caught out cheekily eyeing up Perry's dress, while television star Ellen Degeneres made a joke of the elephant in the room, staring intently at Perry's chest as her girlfriend Portia De Rossi looked on. "I was inspired by Priscilla Presley in the Seventies... Married to Elvis Presley, of course," Perry told Ryan Seacrest of her Grammys dress. Seacrest himself joked that he had luckily had plenty of practice at staying focused when at eye level. One man who did manage to keep his eyes on the ball was Perry's boyfriend John Mayer, who was photographed staring straight into Katy's eyes when the pair were snapped taking their seats. The 35-year-old blues guitarist admitted that he's been thinking about marrying Perry, 28, sometime in the future. When asked whether a wedding would be a possibility, Mayer said, "Of course. I mean, I'm still the kid from Connecticut. That's what you do," according to the Daily Mail.

Finding Nemo 3-D will head to UK cinemas on March 29, 2013, giving families the chance to relive one of the best loved animated movies in recent memory - but this time, in spectacular 3-D. It's the type of movie that lends itself well to the new technology, unlike other movies that are seemingly released in 3-D for the sake of it.
The Pixar movie - in case you didn't know - tells the story of an over-protective clownfish named Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) who searches for his abducted son Nemo (Alexander Gould) with the help of a regal tang name Dory (Ellen Degeneres). The 3-D version hit cinemas across the pond in September 2012 and won instantaneous acclaim from critics. It currently holds a score of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the best reviewed movies on the entire site. Time Out said, "I was swept up in its dazzling stream of rainbow corals, amused by the stoner turtles going with the flow, sharks battling their own regressive instincts and DeGeneres' scatterbrained Dory." Nell Minow of the Chicago Sun-Times said, "It makes even more compelling what is still my all-time favorite Pixar film." The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw was similarly impressed by the 3-D overhaul, writing, "It's all tremendously entertaining stuff, with oodles of wonderful detail and superb direction by Andrew Stanton."

Marlin is a clown fish with deep anxiety issues who lives alone with his sheltered son Nemo who has just started school. His over-protectiveness coupled with peer pressure soon drives Nemo to become a little more daring, however, and he ends up being captured and taken all the way to Sydney. Determined not to lose his beloved son, Marlin sets out on a death-defying adventure with a Blue Tang fish called Dory who suffers from short term memory loss. With danger at every turn, Marlin braves the open ocean and discovers a sense of courage and self-worth he never knew he had.
'Finding Nemo' was directed by Oscar winners Andrew Stanton ('WALL-E', 'John Carter') and Lee Unkrich ('Monsters, Inc. ', 'Toy Story 2') and written by Bob Peterson ('Up') and David Reynolds (additional writer for 'A Bug's Life'). It became both a commercial and critical success on its release through Pixar in 2003 grossing $921,743,261 worldwide and was nominated for two BAFTAs and a Golden Globe and won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. It was this major appeal that has prompted a re-release in stunning 3D almost ten years later. 'Finding Nemo 3D' will hit cinemas on March 29th 2013.

The world is still waiting for its first glimpse of Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green's baby son Noah, with the couple leaving fans guessing as to what the 12-week-old baby looks like. Fox again stopped at home to care for the tot this week, with Green tasked with taking his son, Kassius, Christmas shopping in Los Feliz, reports the Daily Mail.
The former Beverly Hills 90210 actor headed out with his eldest son to pick up some gifts for the family, buying an Atari flashback, a Nutcracker figurine and wrapping paper. The shopping trip came shortly after Fox appeared on the Ellen Degeneres show, speaking about baby Noah's appearance for the first time. "He looks, I would say 70 per cent like Brian. He was his identical twin when he came out and recently he's been getting chubbier and everyone's like oh, he's so chubby now he looks like you and I don't know how I should take that," she told the host. The Transformers star also discussed how she kept Noah's birth a secret for weeks because Reese Witherspoon went into labour with her son Tennessee the day before. "She went into labour the day before I did and all of the paparazzi followed her to Santa Monica and so when I went into labour I went to Cedars [Sinai hospital] and nobody cared or knew or was there and so I got in and out."
Brian and Megan married in an intimate ceremony in Hawaii in June 2010 after a six year relationship. Kassius is Brian's son from his previous relationship to the actress Vanessa Marcil.

Rachel and Finn have had a very tumultuous relationship in Glee, to say the least. But in real life the actors who play both those characters have a dream-like relationship.
Lea Michele (Rachel) and Cora Monteith (Finn) have been dating for months but they only unveiled the news publicly on Ellen, to its host Ellen Degeneres. Ellen asked him about 'Monchele' and what it means. He replied "Well, of course I know what Monchele is... it's Monteith and Michele... Yeah [we are a couple]." The news of which inspired the audience to scream their approval.
Despite both looking as though they're in high school, like their famous Glee characters, Michele is in fact 26 while Cory is 30, and it's right about time for a grown-up relationship. Michele is gracing the cover of Marie Claire this month in which she has spoken about her relationship with Cory. "I don't even remember a time when he wasn't my boyfriend. No one knows me better than Cory," quotes NY Daily News. "No one knows what it's been like to go through this more than he does. Feeling like you have that net underneath you allows you to jump higher and go farther... He makes me feel like I can do anything. For the first time in my life, I feel really, really settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world."

Ellen Degeneres has never been one to suffer fools gladly. When her recent chat show guest John Travolta tried to talk her through his hot chocolate obsession, guiding her through the various types of cocoa bean the world has to offer, she promptly cut him off, saying “I’m gonna interrupt just one second because this is incredibly boring.” Luckily, the Grease star was in on the joke and cracked a smile, as Ellen dissed his bizarre obsession.
In fact, Travolta was really on the show to promote the charity Christmas album that he is releasing with Olivia Newton-John. The album features guests such as James Taylor, Tony Bennett and Barbra Streisand. Oh… and Kenny G. “All the proceeds go to our charities. And they knew that so, once we told them that it was more impetus to help us,” Travolta explained. The moneys raised from the album’s sales will help the Jett Travolta Foundation, which the actor set up after the death of his son Jett. They will also help fund Olivia Newton John’s Cancer and Wellness Foundation.
The Jett Travolta Foundation aims to help people with autism and who suffer seizures, as they are “the least known areas of illnesses… and I feel bad that there’s so many people dealing with this and there are no answers for it.” However, he’s expanded the aims of the organization to include handicapped and underprivileged children.
Jessica Biel and Ellen Degeneres - Jessica Biel and Ellen DeGeneres Monday 3rd December 2012 Actress and Newlywed Jessica Biel makes an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, December 3rd, where Ellen congratulates Jessica on her marriage to Justin Timberlake and finds out how being married is different. During the show Ellen gives Jessica and Justin special holiday sweaters to celebrate their first Christmas as a married couple.
Yesterday (29th Oct. 2012) Anderson Live, the daytime chat show eponymously hosted by Anderson Cooper, was officially cancelled. Ratings for the news anchor's show just never really kicked off. Format changes, including a name change from just 'Anderson' to 'Anderson Live', were clearly not enough to nudge it into nationwide popularity.
Reported in the Chicago Tribute, Cooper said "I am very proud of the work that our terrific staff has put into launching and sustaining our show for two seasons," and added that he looked forward "to doing more great shows this season ... I'm sorry that we won't be continuing." This followed the statement made by WarnerBros, stating "The series will not be coming back for a third season in a marketplace that has become difficult to break through." Anderson Live was competing with mid-day heavyweights such as Ellen Degeneres' 'Ellen', Dr Phil's 'Dr Phil' nor Katie Couric's 'Katie' (all imaginatively titled, as you can see).
It's not the end of the world for Cooper who will still continue hosting his news program 'Anderson 360'. His career history includes international journalism, a lot of which was war reporting, including an award winning report from Sarajevo during the Bosnian war. A lot of his work is referred to in his 2006 memoir Dispatches From the Edge.
Clint Eastwood on gay marriage was one of the most interesting segments of the western star’s recently appearance on Ellen Degeneres daytime talk show. Despite aligning himself with Mitt Romney’s Presidential campaign – a man known for his staunch anti-gay marriage views – Eastwood surprised come commentators with his own opinion.
The actor-director essentially told Ellen that whoever you choose to marry should be none of the government’s business, asserting, “It’s a part of the libertarian idea: Leave everybody alone!” Eastwood went on to suggest that the United States were facing serious problems – most notably the economic situation – and that politicians were wasting much too time discussing gay marriage, saying, “The condition of society right now with the high unemployment rates, and the tremendous debt increasing, and the government spending, you’d think there’d be a lot to think about, except worrying about what gay marriage is about.” The actor has always been known as a libertarian, rather than a Republican, and his comments reiterate his belief about gay marriage which he first made public during an interview with GQ in 2011. On that occasion he said he didn’t “give a f*ck” if a gay couple wanted to marry. So that’s that, then.
The actor – who most recently helmed the big-screen biopic ‘J Edgar’ – was the subject of internet mocking last week after his infamous speech at the Republican convention. During an interview with Extra TV, Eastwood had little sympathy for Mitt Romney – whose campaign he is said to have harmed with his skit – saying, “If somebody’s dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, they’re gonna have to take what they get.”
Britney Spears is certainly no stranger to a complex dance routine, though even the pop princess seemed a little confused by South Korean rapper Psy’s “invisible horse dance” on the Ellen Degeneres show this week.
The eccentric star’s video for ‘Gangnam Style’ recently went viral on YouTube, garnering over 147 million views. Psy dropped by Ellen’s show on Tuesday (September 11, 2012) to speak about the breakout hit and teach the accompanying dance routine, which the respected rapper explained was about dressing “classy” and dancing “cheesy”. Britney – also a guest on the show to promote The X Factor – looked bewildered when Psy initially appeared on-stage wearing a tuxedo and tennis shoes. DeGeneres’ excitement to learn the routine meant she failed to properly introduce Psy to Spears, leading the rapper to quite rightly interject, “Can I introduce myself, and not just dance? I'm Psy from Korea.” The rapper performed at the MTV Video Music Awards last week, and has already been snapped up by Scooter Braun – the mastermind behind a little fella named Justin Bieber. Psy will begin releasing material on Scooter’s Schoolboy Records label, home to fellow viral star Carly Rae Jepsen.
34-year-old Psy has actually released six records to date, including his wonderfully titled 2001 debut ‘Psy From the PSYcho World!”
