Banks co-starred and produced the original movie, but will now be stepping behind the camera for the very first time, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Donna Langley, Universal Pictures' chairman, said: ''Elizabeth originated the idea for 'Pitch Perfect' and was instrumental in making the first film such a huge success. She brings an enormous amount of energy and experience to everything she works on and we're thrilled that she is making her feature directorial debut on 'Pitch Perfect 2'.''

Kendrick and Wilson are expected to return, while Kay Cannon, who adapted the first film from Mickey Rapkin's original book, is scripting the sequel.
