British tennis star Elena Baltacha has lost her battle with cancer aged 30.
The former U.K. number one died peacefully at home in England early on Sunday morning (04May14).
Her husband and former coach Nino Severino has released a statement, which reads, "We are heartbroken beyond words at the loss of our beautiful, talented and determined Bally.
"She was an amazing person and she touched so many people with her inspirational spirit, her warmth and her kindness."
Baltacha was diagnosed with liver cancer in January (14), two months after she married Severino.
She had battled a chronic liver condition since she was a teenager, but despite her illness, went on to win 11 singles titles during her 16-year career.
Baltacha retired from the sport last year (13).
