The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 Trailer

With the incredible ramifications of the end of the yearly ritualistic sacrificial televised Hunger Games, the world is thrown into disarray when the supposed saviour of the underprivileged working class travels to District 13 to help with the revolution she inadvertently started. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) is the last hope and symbol of resistance against the capitol that seeks to keep her and her people as poverty-stricken slaves, and after surviving the aforementioned Hunger Games twice,  Katniss must learn that 'it is the things we love most that destroy us.' Now, with an army at her back, Katniss must change the course of history and bring freedom to the masses through a global armed revolution.

Jobs - Clip

Steve Jobs is the late founder of Apple Inc. and who was a technological pioneer in terms of computers and general electronics. 'jOBS' is the brand new biopic on this extraordinary and charismatic man who sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer on October 5th 2011 aged just 56. This movie chronicles his career from 1971 to 2011 beginning with his dropping out of the expensive Reed College in Portland, Oregon after only 6 months before going on to his first job as a technician which later saw him work with business partner Steve Wozniak for the first time; a partner who became a major player in the creation of Apple Computers.

This long awaited biopic is soon to be released following a lengthy wait since production began in June 2012; just eight months after Jobs' death. It has been directed by Joshua Michael Stern ('Swing Vote', 'Neverwas'), produced by Mark Hulme and written by Matt Whiteley in his screenwriting debut. Much of the filming even took place at Jobs' actual childhood home in Los Altos, California. The independent flick was chosen to close the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in January 2013 and is set for theatrical release in the US on April 19th 2013.

The Battle Of Shaker Heights Review

Good
We're two movies into Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's Project Greenlight, and I'm ready to call the experiment a success. At what, I'm still not sure. The behind-the-scenes antics captured each week for the multi-part HBO series provide an unprecedented insight into a movie's arduous journey from script to screen. Week to week, it provides excellent reality television.

But the end results - from Stolen Summer to this year's The Battle of Shaker Heights - haven't proven strong enough to separate themselves from the series. They struggle to stand on their own two independent feet.

Cheats Review

OK
A bunch of rotten kids cheat their way through school, despite threats from principal Mary Tyler Moore(!) over the red marks on their permanent record.

Last year's Slackers proved this was tepid comedy ground at best, and thankfully Cheats improves on the formula a tad thanks to its younger and more engaging cast. It's still the usual stuff: stealing tests, making crib sheets, bribing teachers' children, all with virtually no remorse -- stuff that was done impressively in Animal House and hasn't gone very far since. This is 2003, man! Where's the technology!?

O Review

Good
Well, all good classics eventually come to a crashing end (Planet of the Apes, anyone?), and the works of Shakespeare are no exception. This time out, it's Othello that gets an urban/teen makeover -- and considering that Slick Willy's themes about the hazards of interracial relationships are still present after 400 years, you'd think O would be a gimme. No such luck.

With this updating, Othello and Desdemona have become Odin and Desi. Odin (Mekhi Phifer) is the sole black student at a ritzy prep school for the overly wealthy. He's also the star basketball player, destined for greatness in college ball, at least. He carries on a semi-secret love affair with Desi (Julia Stiles), a waifish Julia Stiles stock character, who is also the daughter of the dean (John Heard). The basketball coach (Martin Sheen) favors his star player, of course, virtually ignoring his own son Hugo (Josh Hartnett, in the famed and villainous Iago role), who even turns to steroids (gasp!) to improve his performance in an attempt to match Odin's court prowess. After years of no luck and less love, Hugo eventually masterminds a plan to disgrace Odin... all of which ends disastrously, as you know if you've ever read the play.

The Butterfly Effect Review

Good
Ashton Kutcher is a goofball. There are no two ways about it. From bumbling around as the clueless Kelso on That '70s Show to attacking his well-to-do friends on the ubiquitous Punk'd, this guy has made a hell of a living being wacky. Kutcher's noogie-giving persona does exude a confident charm, however, and that charm goes a long way in The Butterfly Effect, the heartthrob's first dramatic lead since he hit the cover of Tiger Beat.

With his innocent smirk and sincere delivery, Kutcher (who also executive produced) brings a fun simple honesty to this alternate-worlds thriller, and it's often necessary, as the subject matter ranges from heavy-duty to soap opera-sudsy. Kutcher is Evan Treborn, a college student who, after growing up suffering childhood blackouts, begins recalling lost memories. The effects are traumatic.

Lords Of Dogtown Review

Weak
"Lords of Dogtown" is a fictionalized accountof the birth of modern skateboarding that doesn't have half the spontaneityand maverick spirit of the vivid, kinetic, crowd-pleasing documentary thatinspired it.

2002's "Dogtownand Z-Boys" (now available in an excellentDVD) was an adrenaline-rush history of the Zephyr Skateboarding Team, adaredevil band of teenage surf bums who were the first to take wave-ridingmoves to the streets and empty swimming pools of drought-stricken SantaMonica in the early 1970s.

This handful of young turks (oneof whom became the director of that film andthe writer of this one) invented the board-gripping, back-scratching, wall-climbingstyle that launched the entire rebel culture of extreme sports -- but youwouldn't know it from "Lords of Dogtown," which concerns itselfmore with fabricated love triangles, unhappy home lives and rivalries thatformed when fame came calling.

While the performances of the young cast members -- keyZ-Boys are played by John Robinson from "Elephant,"Emile Hirsch from "TheGirl Next Door" and Victor Rasuk from "RaisingVictor Vargas" -- are multifaceted, they sometimes have the under-rehearsedfeel of a bawdier after-school special. Or maybe that's just the clumsyexpository dialogue: "Hey, I think we should start a skateboard team, man," says one shirtless, long-haired dude to another. "There'smoney in this!"

Idle Hands Review

Zero

If the director, the writers, the actors and the lobotomized studio execthat greenlighted "Idle Hands" were to spend every day of therest of their lives being dunked head first into mountains of fresh manure,it wouldn't be punishment enough for making this movie.

Yet another clumsy, shapeless teen horror-"comedy,"about a teenage boy whose possessed hand drags him along on a gory killingspree, "Idle Hands" is wholly devoid of taste, wit or even asingle creative or interesting moment. The only way this flick could seemany worse would be if, say, the studio had locked themselves into a releasedate that happened to fall a week after an actual teenage killing spreethat horrified the whole country.
