British conductor EDWARD GARDNER has been appointed the new music director of the English National Opera (ENO). Gardner steps into the post which has been vacant since December (05) after ENO changed its mind over hiring Italian-Russian conductor Oleg Caetani for the role. Gardner made his ENO debut last year (05) performing WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART's COSI FAN TUTTE. He enthuses, "Alongside all the members of the company, I am committed to dedicating myself to the future artistic growth of ENO and to investing the time and presence required to shape its new future."
