WHAT I AM singer Edie Brickell is getting ready to release her first album for nine years - and she's banned husband Paul Simon from contributing.

Simon co-wrote, produced and performed on tracks on Brickell's last album PICTURE PERFECT MORNING, but this time she wanted him to play no part in her new album VOLCANO.

She says, "Just because I'm younger and he's this legend, I didn't want my efforts to be discredited.

"People might think it's a mentor situation, which it isn't. I adore his work, but he doesn't speak for me."
