Rocker Edgar Winter has reworked the upcoming tour that was to feature his late brother Johnny as a series of tributes.
The Rock N’ Blues Fest dates were set to include the Winter brothers, along with Vanilla Fudge and members of Rare Earth and Savoy Brown, but now the tour, which begins in Mississippi next week (31Jul14) will serve as a salute to Johnny, who was found dead in his hotel room in Switzerland on 16 July (14).
All the artists will work songs from Johnny’s career into their sets and Edgar Winter says, "My wife and I are shocked at the suddenness of Johnny’s passing, especially since I was so looking forward with such joy and anticipation to seeing him again and playing together.
"Johnny has always been, is now, and will forever remain my greatest musical hero of all time. But more than all that, he’s my brother – in family, in music, in life and beyond.
"I will do my best to carry on in honour of his memory and the Winter name."
