Country star Eddie Montgomery has removed bitter comments he made via Twitter.com about his estranged wife TRACY's inability to deal with his recent cancer diagnosis.
The Montgomery Gentry singer's wife served the star with divorce papers at his namesake steakhouse in Kentucky last week (30Nov10), prompting Montgomery to blast her online.
He quickly removed the remarks and Tracy Montgomery has since addressed the controversy, insisting her decision to leave the singer has nothing to do with his medical problems.
In an email to her local TV news station in Lexington, Kentucky, she writes, "Despite what is being said, Eddie's cancer had absolutely nothing to do with my decision. It's what the public doesn't know that finalised an extremely difficult decision that I was forced to make.
"I'd like to thank everyone for their kind words and support during this most traumatic time in our lives. For the sake of my children, I prefer to handle things from here on out in a private manner."
Montgomery went public with his cancer diagnosis last month (Nov10). He plans to undergo surgery later this month (Dec10).
