Production on upcoming Australian disaster movie ‘Deep Water’ has been postponed due to the plot's similarities with the disappearance of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370.

Arclight productions announced on Monday that 'out of sensitivity to the Malaysia flight situation, we've decided to put it on pause for now'. The move comes after the film's plot shares many eerie similarities with disappearance of the Malaysian flight. It involves a China-bound flight which mysteriously crashes in a remote stretch of ocean, the survivors then come up against sharks as the plane begins to sink. The movie’s tagline had been ‘survivors of a plane crash face terror beyond reckoning as the plane is starting to sink into a bottomless abyss and soon discover they're surrounded by the deadliest natural born killers on earth.’

Pre predocution on the film, which is being directed by Alister Grierson, began in Queensland just weeks before the real-life flight's disppearance. After the MH370 disappearance director Greierson had described his film saying, 'it’s more complicated than that as there’s villains and sharks, but it’s a fun action/adventure with thrills and spills and scares. Nobody knows what has happened with the Malaysian airplane. We’re yet to find out whether it will be revealed as a malfunction or even found.'

For Grierson this is not the first time one of his

movies have mirrored real life incidents. His first big budget feature 'Sanctum', produced by James Cameron, told the stroy of cave explorers who become trapped after floods hit. It was scheduled for release just two weeks after Queensland and Northern New South Wales were hit by devastating floods in 2011.

Ed WestwickEd Westwick's lastest movie has also faced delays

It's unclear when we can expect production to resume on the film, but it will be at least two years before the movie makes it to cinemas. The Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 vanished March 8 less than an hour after its take off from Kuala Lumpur and with 239 people on board on, there are now thought to be no survivors. 'Deep Water' isn't the only film to be delayed becasue of the disaster, the upcoming 'Last Flight' starring Ed Westwick had its Bejing premiere cancelled on March 21st out of respect for the missing MH370 passengers.
