Ed Sheeran's festive new video is romantic, idyllic... and a little pathetic in the best way possible.
Christmas is the 'Perfect' time of the year for cheesy videos; and, indeed, if Ed Sheeran had dropped the video for his new single any other time we'd be uber-cringing. Luckily for him, we're starting to feel rather festive, so romantic cliches are totally allowed.
Ed Sheeran at the Q Awards
The singer appeared alongside 'Before I Fall' star Zoey Deutch in the 'Perfect' visual, which dropped today (November 9th 2017). It depicts two friends who confess their romantic feelings for each other during a holiday ski trip, and every single ridiculously romantic thing that doesn't happen in real life, happens. If only life was this idyllic.

Is he preparing us for a stripped back Irish sound?
It might not be a mainstream sound, but Ed Sheeran got some serious airplay for his folk-tinged third single this year 'Galway Girl'. There is something of a traditional edge to the chart hero's music, which has got us wondering if he's preparing us for a stripped back full-folk release next.
Ed Sheeran at the Q Awards
So 'Galway Girl' might not be a purely folk aesthetic, despite the fact that it was co-written and co-performed by the Irish band Beoga, but that's not the only thing that's convinced us he could be heading for a brand new sound.

The bike crash that Sheeran suffered at the weekend, leaving both his arms in slings, means he has cancelled a number of Asian tour dates.
Ed Sheeran has confirmed the news that his worldwide legions of fans will have been dreading – the bicycle crash he suffered over the weekend has meant that he will be cancelling some live gigs on his world tour.
The 26 year old singer suffered a nasty accident at the weekend in London when a car knocked him off his bike, causing him to break his right arm and fracture his wrist and elbow, meaning both of his arms are in slings. Obviously, it’s left him unable to play guitar, and fans with tickets for his tour dates have been nervously awaiting updates from the star
Sold-out concerts in five Asian cities over the coming month have been cancelled, as the Asian leg of his current world tour for multi-million-selling third album Divide is due to kick off on October 22nd.

The singer may have to reschedule his performance dates in Asia.
Ed Sheeran had a lucky escape when he got knocked down by a car while out riding his bicycle in London last week, getting away with just a broken arm. Still, a break this bad could have a major impact on his forthcoming Asian tour dates.

No details regarding the accident have been released, apart from that fact that he was hit by a car while riding down a London street, according to The Mirror. But regardless of what happened, he plays the guitar right-handed, so we can't imagine a scenario where he'll be able to play on his next tour dates

Ella Eyre won't be writing about her ex-boyfriend in her new music.
The 23-year-old singer insists she won't be heading in the studio to get over her split from Rixton's Lewi Morgan because it was the ''most uninteresting break-up ever''.
She said: ''I'm friends with all my exes and Lewi is one of them. I'm still in touch with his family and his band is coming back with new music, so I'm checking up on that to see how it's going. The way me and Lewi split up was so mutual, calm and respectful. I'd struggle to write an interesting song about it because it was the most uninteresting break-up ever!''

Sheeran's promoter, Stuart Galbraith, and two MPs went to Viagogo's London offices armed with a letter and questions over their practices, but were turned away.
The battle against ticket touting has escalated after Ed Sheeran’s promoter, along with two MPs, was turned away from the London offices of ticket re-sale site Viagogo when they confronted the company with a letter and questions regarding their practices.
They had travelled to the London HQ of Viagogo’s parent company VGL, accompanied by disappointed and irate customers who claimed the company had ripped them off by adding huge fees to the face value of a ticket, as well as VAT. However, Conservative MP Nigel Adams and Labour MP Sharon Hodgson were both told the police would be called if they didn’t leave the premises.
The company is accused of hiking the prices of tickets by up to 34% through hidden fees that only become apparent when a customer clicks through the site to payment details.
Director Jeremy Podeswa defended Sheeran's cameo appearance in the season 7 curtain-raiser in an interview with The Daily Beast.
After his cameo appearance in ‘Game Of Thrones’ this weekend that sharply divided viewers on social media, the show’s director has come to Ed Sheeran’s defence saying that the singer is a “lovely performer” who “deserved to be there”.
In fact, the reaction was such that 26 year old Sheeran quit Twitter altogether in the wake of the season premiere of the seventh series of ‘Game of Thrones’ on Sunday night (July 16th). However, the HBO fantasy show’s director, Jeremy Podeswa, has told The Daily Beast in a new interview that he felt Sheeran’s appearance was appropriate.
Podeswa admitted he was “a bit surprised that people have made that much fuss about it… he looks right in the show; he fits into the fabric of the show.”

The singer received nothing but criticism for his 'GoT' cameo.
He gave us fair warning, but Ed Sheeran has finally decided to scrap his Twitter account altogether now after a stream of hate messages following his 'Game Of Thrones' cameo. There was barely enough screen time for him to have had a poor performance, but that didn't stop his biggest critics.
Ed Sheeran performs at the 'Today' show
We have a feeling that Ed's brief spell as a singing soldier in season 7 of 'Game of Thrones' was meant to be a tongue-in-cheek moment for the series, but there were a lot of people out there who felt angry about his involvement in the episode 'Dragonstone'. As a result, he's shut down his Twitter account in a bid to stem the flow of hate.

Ed Sheeran has penned two tracks for Jess Glynne's new album.
The 'Shape of You' hitmaker stormed the charts earlier this year with his comeback LP '÷' following 12 months away from the spotlight but, despite his busy schedule, the flame-haired hunk has still managed to find some time to pen two tracks titled 'Thursday' and 'Woman Like Me', for Jess' forthcoming record as she's hoping to emulate his success when she drops her new sound later this year.
A source told The Sun newspaper: ''After the success Jess enjoyed with her first album, she has been able to pick and choose who she works with but was delighted that Ed came on board. His offerings are set to be major components of Jess's album - his songwriting and her distinctive sound are a perfect fit.''

After her Monsters attacked him, she's urging everyone to be kind.
Following his abrupt departure from social media over a string of abusive comments, Lady GaGa has spoken out in defence of Ed Sheeran and urges people to be kinder to artists and make the internet a friendlier place. It's about time the trolling ended.
Lady Gaga live at Coachella
After a stellar Glastonbury set, all Ed Sheeran got was criticism on Twitter. Now he's decided he'd rather not deal with it at all, and has quit the platform and left all his social media responsibilities to someone else on his team. Someone who knows all too well the harshness of Twitter has sent him her full support.

The singer had been getting one too many trolls attacking him on social media.
Poor Ed Sheeran's been having a really tough time since his Glastonbury appearance. He has faced so much criticism online that he has made the momentous decision of leaving social media altogether - at least for now. His fans will surely be disappointed, but the trolling is getting out of hand.
Ed Sheeran at the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2017
The 'Castle on the Hill' singer played a sensational set as the Sunday headliner at Glastonbury last month, but despite his popularity he has still received an influx of hateful abuse on Twitter. It started out with accusations that he was using a backing track throughout his performance rather than playing live (when he was actually using a loop pedal) and culminated in many telling him that he wasn't worthy of the Glasto slot in the first place.
New chart rules coming into effect this week, affecting the counting of streams and imposing a limit on tracks per artist, will prevent the sight of one artist having huge numbers of songs in the Top 20.
Ed Sheeran shattered all sorts of chart records earlier this year when his latest album Divide was released, with all 16 of its tracks hitting the UK Top 20 singles chart at the same time.
However, it’s now unlikely that anybody else will emulate such a feat, or even come close, after the Official Charts Company announced changes to the rules surrounding the compilation of the charts, particularly regarding the weighting given to streaming.

Here are a few of the best moments over the Glastonbury weekend.
Another Glastonbury extravaganza has come and gone, and this time we won't see the UK's most renowned music event again for two years. It was certainly a week to remember, however, with top sets from headliners Foo Fighters, Radiohead and Ed Sheeran and so much other fun going on.

Ed Sheeran headlined the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival this weekend and you'd be hard-pushed to find a more rocking acoustic set anywhere. To a 200,000 strong crowd, he played a mixture of his biggest hits as well as the lesser known numbers from the likes of 'Divide' and 'X'.

'Happy Mondays' lead singer Shaun Ryder says 'Shape of You' hitmaker Ed Sheeran is only successful because of the way the industry now works.
The Happy Mondays and Black Grape singer insists the charts are ''irrelevant'' so doesn't really care that the 'Shape of You' singer recently had a record-breaking 16 tracks in the top 20 singles chart and his latest album 'Divide' has been at the top of the charts since its release.
He told NME: ''I'm fine with how Ed did it, I have no problems with that.

Sheeran will appear on Radio 4's 'Desert Island Discs' this weekend, and told presenter Kirsty Young about his creative processes.
His hits are some of the most riotously popular of the 2010s so far, but Ed Sheeran has revealed that songwriting holds another, much more utilitarian purpose for him than just for making money – he writes as a “form of therapy”.
The 26 year old English singer appeared on BBC Radio 4’s ‘Desert Island Discs’ programme this week, in an episode that will be broadcast on Sunday (May 7th), but a teaser clip ahead of the full show reveals that the flame-haired icon writes in order to pick himself up when he’s feeling down.

The singer is bringing his talents to Westeros.
Returning to the small screen a little later than usual this year, hit fantasy series 'Game of Thrones' - based on the best-selling novel series 'A Song of Ice and Fire' by George R R Martin - will be going into its seventh season with a lot of questions to answer. Now with Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) on the Iron Throne (with nothing much left to lose), there are many different directions the series could go in.
Ed Sheeran has filmed his 'Game of Thrones' cameo with Maisie Williams
This time round, the show is also breaking tradition with the amount of episodes it's bringing to fans, with just seven filmed rather than the usual 10. Jeremy Podeswa, Mark Mylod, Matt Shakman and Alan Taylor will be serving as directors for the seven episodes, with writers on each still to be confirmed.

Sheeran is confident that new album ‘÷ (divide)’ will match the success of his previous efforts.
Ed Sheeran has said he believes his new album ÷ (divide) contains a track that’s even better than his mega-hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’.

Though tickets for Sheeran's upcoming UK tour sold out within minutes, they soon appeared on re-sale sites marked up by hundreds of pounds.
In the aftermath of fan anger that the only tickets available for his upcoming British tour are at absurdly inflated prices via second-hand sales websites, Ed Sheeran has called on his fans to snub greedy ticket touts who are flogging on tickets.
Many thousands were left disappointed when tickets for Sheeran’s first UK concerts in two years went on sale earlier this week, only to sell out in a matter of minutes. The video features his younger doppelganger.
Ed Sheeran takes a nostalgic look back at his younger years in a music video released today (January 23rd 2017) dedicated to his hometown of Framlingham, Suffolk. It's the companion for his song 'Castle on the Hill'; one of the first singles from his third album 'Divide'.
Ed Sheeran makes a nostalgic return to Suffolk
He may have sung 'I won't stay put, give me the chance to be free/ Suffolk sadly seems to sort of suffocate me' on his song 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You' from his debut album '+ (plus)', but these days he has a lot more love for the county that raised him and proved it with his latest single 'Castle on the Hill'. The lyrics remember him breaking his leg while playing as a child, his first kiss, drinking, smoking and misbehaving with friends, and reflects on what those old friends are doing with their lives now as Ed roars down country lanes to return home.

The 25 year old star, on the comeback trail having just released two brand new singles from his upcoming third album, was caught driving 10 miles an hour over the limit near Framlingham in his Aston Martin DB9.
Ironically, it happened just a couple of days after the local constabulary criticised Sheeran for encouraging speeding and dangerous driving in one of the new songs. ‘Castle On the Hill’, which the singer described as a “love song for Suffolk”, features the lyrics “driving at 90 down those country lanes”.

'25' sold more than Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber and Sam Smith put together in 2015 - despite only being on sale for the last five weeks of the year!
Confirming what we essentially already knew, Adele’s global domination is total, with the news that her latest album 25 outsold the rest of the top five bestsellers around the world put together in 2015.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), a global body representing the music industry, reports that her long-awaited third album sold 17.4 million units in 2015, despite only coming out in late November. As a result, the organisation concludes that Adele has helped to reverse “two decades of almost uninterrupted decline” in the music business.

Mean Tweets is back, but is this the meanest edition yet?
Everyone’s favourite ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ segment, ‘Mean Tweets’ made a comeback on Tuesday’s edition of the late night talk show and this may be the meanest one yet. The segment’s third music special featured stars including One Direction, Ed Sheeran and Demi Lovato, who all had to read out some of the shadiest (and funniest) comments made about them on social media.
One Direction were forced to confront a mean tweet on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'.
While Ed Sheeran might be enjoying huge success stateside, it seems not everyone’s a fan. The red-haired singer read out a tweet which proclaimed: ‘I can't stand this new Ed Sheeran. Like why TF are you happy on your records. You’re a f****** ginger for f**** sake’.
Sheeran's record label anticipate the follow-up to 'X' arriving within the next 12 months, but the star himself is slightly wary.
The British singer-songwriter, still enjoying huge success with his second record X, released 16 months ago, has announced that his record label is weighing up the possibility of a September 2016 release date for the next one. However, Sheeran himself is sceptical as it would mean competing with arguably the biggest star in the world.
“Adele is releasing her album in the same Grammy category,” the megastar told Billboard about the prospect release date of a new record. “I don't know if I'm brave enough to go up against her.”
