Ed Sheeran (born 17 February 1991) is a British singer-songwriter popular for his singles 'The A Team', 'Lego House' and 'Sing'.
Net Worth: Sheeran has a net worth of $35 million (2016) according to various sources.
Childhood: Ed was born in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire. His parents are art curator John Sheeran and jewelry designer Imogen Lock. While still a young child, Sheeran moved with his family to Framlingham, Suffolk. Sheeran was raised a Roman Catholic and joined a church choir at 4-years-old. He attended Thomas Mills High School where he began playing guitar and songwriting. He later became a part of the National Youth Theatre. One of his best childhood memories was seeing Damien Rice live in Ireland.
Musical career: Ed released his debut EP 'The Orange Room' in 2005. In 2008, he relocated to London in search of live gigs, playing almost every single day of the year in 2009 before later hitting the road with Just Jack. After posting a SB.TV video, he went on tour with Example. In 2010, he unveiled his 'Loose Change' EP which featured the original version of his multi-platinum song 'The A Team'. That year, he met Jamie Foxx while doing open mic nights in LA, and subsequently began recording in his studio while staying at his house. Sheeran broke into the mainstream in 2011 with his 'No. 5 Collaborations Project' EP featuring Wiley, Devlin, Ghetts and others. He soon signed to Asylum/Atlantic Records and released debut album '+' which included singles 'Drunk', 'The A Team', 'Lego House' and 'You Need Me, I Don't Need You'. The album topped the UK charts and became the ninth best-selling album of the year.
Ed Sheeran co-wrote the One Direction song 'Moments', released in 2011. The following year, he received two BRIT Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough of the Year. He then set out on a tour of the US with Snow Patrol. That year, his track 'Give Me Love' aired on 'The Vampire Diaries' episode 'Dangerous Liaisons'. He was chosen to perform at both the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 2012 and the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony. He collaborated with Taylor Swift on her song 'Everything Has Changed' and even wrote One Direction's number one hit 'Little Things'. He performed alongside Elton John at the 2013 Grammys when the singer couldn't get Sheeran a solo spot. He set out on tour with Taylor Swift in 2013 and that year featured on Lupe Fiasco's song 'Old School Love' and Naughty Boy's 'Top Floor (Cabana)'.
In 2014, he contributed the song 'I See Fire' to the end credits of 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' and released his second number one album 'X', produced by Rick Rubin. The album peaked at number one in the UK Album chart and in the Billboard Hot 100. 'Sing' was the album's lead single and gained Sheeran his first number one in the UK.
In 2015 Ed won British Male solo Artist and British Album of the year for 'X'. He also co-hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards in the same year. He embarked on a year-long hiatus in December.
In 2016, he won two Grammys for his song 'Thinking Out Loud' and ended his hiatus. In 2017 he launched two new singles - 'Shape of You' and 'Castle on the Hill' - with the prospect of his third studio album entitled 'Divide'.
Other Ventures: In March 2015 Sheeran announced that he was to set up his own record label, Gingerbread Man Records. Jamie Lawson was the first artist to be signed to his label and his self-titled album earned him a number one in the UK albums chart.
Ed likes to be involved in charity work and performed a gig in Bristol in order to raise money for a charity that works to support street sex workers in total raising £40,000 for them.
He has also shown support for Band Aid, worked with the charity Turn2us and is the ambassador for East Anglia's Children's hospice where he frequently donates clothes.
Personal life: Sheeran is a patron of the Youth Music Theatre UK. He bought a farm in Suffolk in 2012 but lived in Tennessee and LA during 2013. In 2012 Sheeran dated Nina Nesbitt who is the subject of his songs 'Photograph' and 'Nina'. After they broke up Ed dated Athina Andrelos who works for Jamie Oliver. The relationship between them fell apart and in 2015 he was thought to be dating Cherry Seaborn who is his former high school friend.
In 2016, it was reported that Ed had been forced to undergo stitches on his face after Princess Beatrice accidently nicked him with a sword while jokingly 'knighting' James Blunt at a party at her Windsor home.
A jury must decide whether Sheeran infringed the copyright of Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On' in his hit song 'Thinking Out Loud'.
An American judge has ruled that a jury must decide whether or not Ed Sheeran plagiarised Marvin Gaye’s song ‘Let’s Get It On’ for his own hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’.
In his decision released on Thursday (January 3rd), district judge Louis Stanton ruled that a jury must decide, in the process rejecting Sheeran’s motion to have the lawsuit dismissed. The judge also maintained that there were “substantial similarities between several of the two works' musical elements”.
Gaye’s track, one of his signature songs, was released in 1973, while Sheeran’s massive Grammy-winning hit ‘Thinking Out Loud’ was released from his second album X in 2014. The British singer has denied copying elements of Gaye’s track.

Ariana Grande ADDS UK TOUR DATES
Ariana Grande has given fans a little Sweetener, announcing extra dates for the UK and Ireland leg of her arena tour next summer.
Originally, the ‘thank u, next’ chart-topping star announced a brace of London shows in August 2019, before returning to the UK the following month for gigs in Birmingham, Glasgow, Sheffield and Dublin.
Sheeran's massive Divide World Tour took $432 million in 12 months.
Ed Sheeran has broken yet another music industry record, this time for the most money earned from a calendar tour in one year, with his Divide world tour raking in $432 million in 2018, according to industry analyst Pollstar.
Sheeran’s tour, behind his third studio album Divide which was released almost 21 months ago in March 2017, sold 4.86 million tickets over the last 12 months. It included four dates at the 90,000-capacity Wembley Stadium in London.
The tour began in the middle of 2017 and, in total, and has already become the third highest grossing tour of all time. Sheeran still has dates to perform next year before the tour draws to a close in August with four huge homecoming gigs in Leeds and Ipswich.

Sheeran drew criticism for what he wore compared to Beyonce during their duet at Global Citizen last weekend.
Last weekend, Sheeran performed with Beyonce at the Global Citizen Festival in Johannesburg, South Africa. Bey, as is to be expected, chose a glamorous and eye-catching outfit for the performance of their duet ‘Perfect’ – but Sheeran looked like he’d just thrown together his outfit at the last minute.
It can’t have been entirely surprising, as Sheeran’s jeans, checked shirt and scruffy undershirt look is one that’s been his trademark throughout his eight-year career, but many objected to the total disconnect between Bey and Ed’s outfits and argued that it was reflective of double standards expected of male and female artists.
UK Music's Measuring Music said that British artists played a huge part in the health of the worldwide music industry in 2017.
A newly published report from UK Music’s Measuring Music organisation reveals that export revenues grew by 7% to an all-time high of £2.6 billion.
A pretty healthy picture was painted across the board. The biggest selling album around the world in 2017 was Ed Sheeran’s third studio LP Divide, powered by enormous hit singles in ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Perfect’.
The singer reigns supreme at the top despite taking a break from the limelight since her tour ended last year
Superstar singer Adele has topped the richest British celebrity aged 30 or under for the third year in a row - despite barely working since she finished her world tour last summer. The Hello hitmaker knocked the One Direction boys off the top spot in 2016 and has been riding high ever since.
Adele is the highest earning 30 or under - for the third year running
However, having now reached the age of 30, this will be her last year reigning supreme.

'Shape of You' could land Sheeran a third consecutive BMI Awards win.
Ed Sheeran’s globe-conquering ubiquity goes on with the news that he’s scooped a third consecutive BMI London song of the year nomination, an award that recognises the most played song by British or European writers from the Broadcast Music Inc. catalogue across radio and television in America.
‘Shape of You’, the lead-off single from 2017’s multi-platinum third album Divide, has received the nomination this time around, following wins for ‘Thinking Out Loud’ in 2016 and ‘Love Yourself’, his duet with Justin Bieber, last year.
The 27 year old singer-songwriter faces competition from The Weeknd, Norwegian DJ Kygo and Selena Gomez, Russian producer Zedd and Alessia Cara, and former ‘X Factor’ winner James Arthur for the grand prize.

Dave Grohl PERFORMS NIRVANA’S ‘IN BLOOM’
Since finding colossal fame on his own terms with Foo Fighters all those years ago, Dave Grohl very rarely breaks into his former band Nirvana’s catalogue.
However, this week he made an exception, taking to the drums for a guest spot alongside Trombone Shorty at Los Angeles’ Voodoo Threauxdown Festival for a rendition of ‘In Bloom’, the classic fourth single from Nirvana’s Nevermind album.

Swift and Sheeran went out hiking together this week, with Taylor capturing their adorable friendship on Instagram.
In the clip posted on Wednesday (September 12th), Swift could be seen giggling as she filmed her best friend Ed puffing out of breath behind her while they were out hiking outside Taylor’s home city of Nashville.
“You okay, bro?” she eventually teases Sheeran, which resulted in the worn-out English singer flipping the bird at the camera, leaving Swift laughing.
