Ed O'Neill - The 'Modern Family' and 'Bone Collector' actor Ed O'Neill celebrated his 65th birthday with Sofia Vergara and his sitcom co-stars over the weekend. Ed O'Neill best known for his role as 'Al Bundy' on the hugely popular sitcom 'Married with Children', was joined by family, friends and colleagues to mark his milestone birthday, reports E! Online.
O'Neill is currently starring as 'Jay Pritchett' is one of America's biggest sitcoms, 'Modern Family'. The actor stars alongside Sofia Vergara, who posted a number of pictures from Ed's birthday celebrations on her Twitter account. The actress tweeted a message on Saturday (9th April 2011) that read, "Look who is the bday boy!!!!" Attached was an image of O'Neill blowing out the candles on a large double tiered chocolate cake. Vergara posted another image shortly after, which featured herself posing with the actor. O'Neill caused controversy back in 2010 when he suggested that actress Jane Lynch didn't deserve the Emmy Award that she won for her performance in Glee. O'Neill noted that his co-star Vergara was more suited to the award, saying, "I thought Jane's role is rather one-dimensional. It's kind of strident. It's always kind of the same. I've seen her be much better. So I thought 'Sofia's funnier,' and I think she is in these two comparative roles".
It was recently reported that Ed O'Neill will be honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2011.
