The actor Ed Helms is at the helm of a Chick-fil-A boycott, following the revelation that its president Dan Carthy is openly opposed to gay marriage. Upon hearing the news, the Hangover actor tweeted a message that read "Chick-fil-A doesn't like gay people? So lame. Hate to think what they do to the gay chickens! Lost a loyal fan." No doubt others will follow suit once news of the fast food chain's stance begins to spread.
In an interview with the the Baptist Press, Dan Carthy said that he was "guilty as charged" when asked if he was opposed to gay people getting married and also stated "We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that . we know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles." This did not go down well with Helms, who will be looking to chow down on chicken elsewhere, from now on, it seems.
Helms is not alone in deciding to shop elsewhere for poultry snacks. A number of Twitter users have expressed their intentions not to eat there. One user, edplunkett posted a message earlier to say "I stopped eating at Chick-A-Fila (sic) years ago, because it's not very good food and because they were always homophobic."
