We take it she won't be going to see the new film, then.
In the week when pretty much everyone has been talking about ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, one big name is resolutely indifferent to the hype. Madonna, the original queen of controversial iconography, says that E. L. James’ bestsellers are “not very sexy.”
In a new interview with Billboard, she said that she wouldn’t be in much of a hurry to see the movie adaptation, released on February 13th. She dismissed it as “pulp fiction. It's not very sexy,” questioning that maybe it is aimed at “someone who has never had sex before.”

The official trailer has been released for the the hotly anticipated big screen adaption of E. L. James' novel '50 Shades of Grey', starring Dakota Fanning and Jamie Dornan, and directed by Sam Taylor-Wood - Friday 25th July 2014
It's Christian Grey... he's wearing leather... and he's driving a car.
Lace fans and snuff at the ready, Fifty Shades of Grey fans, because a new promotional photo has been released ahead of the upcoming saucy movie. The brand new close-up features actor Jamie Dornan as lead character Christian Grey and has set author EL James' fans tingling with anticipation for Sam Taylor-Johnson's 2015 adaptation.
Pictured sitting in a car, presumed to be the black Audi R8 Spyder detailed in the books, Grey is intently focussed on something in the middle distance. He seems to have eschewed his smart business attire in favour of a more "civilian" black leather jacket and T-shirt combo.
It's unclear whether Grey's gaze is more seductive or scowly but fans online have been speculating that Grey is staring at Ana Steel, his lover, who is played by Dakota Johnson. Many have read deeper into the photo, asking why the film's team have decided to release this particular shot.

Looks like we've got our first proper shot of Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey.
A new promo shot has been released for the upcoming romantic drama Fifty Shades of Grey showing actor Jamie Dornan portraying the movie's male lead, Christian Grey. Posted to celebrate the fictional billionaire's birthday, the shot shows Dornan clad in a leather jacket whilst driving the character's famed black Audi R8 Spyder.
Grey is gazing intently at something with that same brooding, yet slightly unsettling glare that author EL James loves to describe in her saucy trilogy. Adapted by Sam Taylor-Johnson, the 2015 movie will feature Dornan as Grey alongside Dakota Johnson, who will play the story's protagonist and narrator, Ana Steele.
The snap follows the first official promo poster for the film that was revealed on Valentine's Day this year. We see the back of a silhouetted Grey standing in front of a large glass window and looking out over Seattle. The shot was captioned with "Mr. Grey will see you now," referencing the first encounter the two main characters have.

Yeah, we're stumped on this one too. Jamie Dornan reveals his secret insecurities.
Jamie Dornan has revealed that he has a long-running dissatisfaction with his physique, despite having been a Calvin Klein model and now working on the lead role in the upcoming erotic drama, Fifty Shades of Grey.
Known for his oiled underwear adverts with Eva Mendes, breakthrough role in TV drama The Fall, and small part in 2006's Marie Antoinette, Dornan landed his first lead role in a movie after being cast as the BDSM-loving businessman Christian Grey in Sam Taylor-Johnson's 2015 adaptation of EL James' adult fiction series.
Remarkably, the actor is rather self-deprecating and has revealed that he doesn't quite see what all the fuss over his buff physique is about. "I don't like my physique. Who does? I was a skinny guy growing up, and I still feel like that same skinny kid," the Irish star admitted.
People love reading about sex, crime and food. Go figure.
From crime to questionable erotica, this year’s list of the most borrowed books in the UK is a diverse mix. Plot twist: the first three spaces are occupied by British authors this year, with Lee Child’s The Affair and A Wanted Man topping the list and E. L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey coming in third. It seems like readers of the E. L. James’ steamy novel are overcoming their embarrassment about reading it.
Lee Child and E. L. James have tapped into the human psyche, or the British one, at least.
The success of Fifty Shades has previously been attributed mostly to the rising popularity of e-readers, which allow readers to avoid public embarrassment. Critics might want to revise that theory now – it doesn’t get more public than borrowing a library copy of Fifty Shades. The book was the most borrowed title in Suffolk and Essex between June 1012 and June 2013, according to information from the Public Lending Right scheme released today.
What on Earth could Rita be talking about?
Rita Ora has teased fans of the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise by telling them to expect "the biggest and most amazing shock" as EL James' erotic trilogy is given a movie transformation. The film, which is currently being shot in Vancouver has experienced plenty of delays with its casting and filming but if Rita's words are anything to go by, it should all be worth it upon the 14th February 2015 release date.

Keith Callum Rennie has become the latest actor to be added to the cast of the upcoming movie adaptation of EL James' erotic trilogy Fifty Shades of Grey. The 53 year-old actor has been cast as the step-father of Anastasia Steele, Ray Steele, meaning the small Steele family is finally complete, as reported by Deadline.
Keith Callum Rennie Has Been Cast As Ray Steel In The '50 Shades' Movie.
Rennie will join actresses Dakota Johnson, who will play his daughter Ana, and Jennifer Ehle, who will play his ex-wife Carla May Wilks and Anastasia's mother. In the wider cast, Rennie will join Jamie Dornan, who stepped into Charlie Hunnam's shoes to play Christian Grey, Rita Ora, Eloise Mumford, Marcia Gay Harden, and more as the movie begins to stand on two feet after being beleaguered by casting issues for some time.
There have been mixed reaction to the announcement that Rita Ora will play Christian Grey's sister.
Pop star Rita Ora announced at the weekend that she had been cast in the role of Christian Grey's younger adoptive sister in the Fifty Shades of Grey erotic trilogy adaptation. Ora tweeted the news from the British Fashion Awards but wasn't met with the overwhelmingly positive reaction she may have been hoping for.

"It's official! I've been cast in @FiftyShades of Grey as Christian's sister Mia. #FiftyShades," tweeted Rita. Though many congratulated the 'Shine Ya Light' singer or her exciting new movie role, some even went as far as to call a hoax. The singer has been confirmed for a part in the upcoming movie adaptation of the erotica novel
Rita Ora is the latest in a succession of names to be attached to the upcoming 50 Shades of Grey movie adaptation. Following countless pre-production mishaps, the decision to delay the film's release doesn't really come as a surprise
The much-discussed movie adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey has been hit with a barrage of problems ever since Universal acquired the rights to EL James' erotic novel. With the most recent issue to affect the film - Charlie Hunnam's exit, followed some time after by Jamie Dornan's eventual casting - only recently being resolved, it doesn't really come as too much of a surprise to learn that studio bosses have decided to delay the film's release for another few months.
Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are the film's stars
Originally slated for a 1 August 2014 release, it has since been announced that the film will instead debut in February 2015, coinciding with Valentines Day. Shooting was put back following Hunnam's exit, having originally been slated to begin this month.
Grimes will play the brother of Christian Grey in the upcoming adaptation
With the part of Christian Grey finally decided on, again, the film adaption of EL James' 50 Shades of Grey can once again inch towards completion. The first post-Jamie Dornan-casting move to be taken care of is the appointment of his brother, who will be played by True Blood actor Luke Grimes.
Grimes joins Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson as a confirmed cast member
Grimes is the first actor to be hired for the upcoming 50 Shades adaptation since Jame Dornan was cast as the new Christian Grey - replacing Charlie Hunnam - and joins Jennifer Ehle and Dakota Johnson - who will play lead role Anastasia Steele - as one of the confirmed cast members. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Grimes will play Elliot Grey, a pivotal character in the EL James novel, who begins a relationship with Anastasia's best friend, a role that hasn't been cast yet.

The '50 Shades of Grey' movie has cast Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey.
Jamie Dornan has signed on to play Christian Grey in Universal and Focus Films' adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey - the bestselling erotic novel by E.L James. Dornan - an Irish actor with only a modest CV - replaces Charlie Hunnam who infamously backed out of the project just 2 weeks before filming was set to begin in Vancouver.
It's likely that Dornan came to the producer's attentions for his excellent turn in the BBC series The Fall, with The X-Files' Gillian Anderson. Playing a bereavement psychologist moonlighting as serial killer, Dornan proved he could do the whole glassy-eyed maniac thing.
Speaking with Digital Spy of one particularly disturbing scene, the former model said, "I spent a day strangling myself on the back of a door while I masturbated to a driving license of one of my victims. That's not an easy day at the office! And they cut it out! I couldn't believe it-they didn't even tell me. When I first watched the series, it just wasn't there!"

JUST DECIDE ALREADY!
Scott Eastwood, the son of Western movie star Clint Eastwood, is the latest in a long line of names to be associated with the role of Christian Grey in the upcoming, ill-fated film adaptation of EL James' raunchy trilogy, Fifty Shades of Grey. The role has had to be recast after former Grey, Charlie Hunnam, walked out over purported scheduling difficulties.
The New Grey?
At this point in time, been described as the 50 Shades frontrunner pretty much means that you're the only male actor left in Hollywood who hasn't already been associated with the role. The list's too long for us to name them all, but notable rumoured former "frontrunners" have included Ian Somerhalder, Jamie Dorkin, Ryan Gosling and Matt Bomer.

'50 Shades' movie in crisis after leading man Christian Grey walks away.
Actor Jamie Dornan is the latest in a long line of rumored successors to the role of Christian Grey after Charlie Hunnam walked away from the adaptation of author EL James' erotic trilogy. The Irish The Fall actor's name has surfaced to the top of the pile since Hunnam's departure after it was reported that he went for the role the first time round but lost out to the better-known Sons of Anarchy star.
Jamie's Looking A Strong Contender For The '50 Shades' Role.
Hunnam blamed his necessary departure on an "immersive schedule" and explained that he wouldn't have time to properly prepare for the role as a result. This left the studios scrambling and 50 Shades fans wondering who the new face of the Christian Grey would be in the sexually-charged fiction.

The latest actor rumoured for the part of Christian Grey might not fit the popularity level, but he does have the looks.
Charlie Hunnam quit the Fifty Shades of Grey project a few days ago, but the ripples of his exit are still being felt throughout the internet. This is mostly because, as of today, there is still no news as to who will replace the Sons of Anarchy actor and take on the role of Christian Grey. One fan favorite for the part seems to be Matt Bomer, although he hasn’t publicly expressed any interest and his name reportedly doesn’t feature in Universal’s uber-secret list of Christian Grey hopefuls.
Hunnam's exit has thrown the production in a state of chaos.
Said list includes a few actors, whom Universal chairman Donna Langley, producers Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti, director Sam Taylor-Johnson and author EL James are reportedly considering for the role, now that they are left in a desperate scramble to replace Hunnam in time for the start of filming – November 1. This oh-so-secretive list – part of which was nonetheless revealed by The Hollywood Reporter – also includes British TV stars Jamie Dornan, 31, and Christian Cooke, 26.
The actress is reportedly having a hard time dealing with the role.
It was going rather well for the Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson and her team: after what seemed like ages they'd managed to pull off a great casting decision, choosing two actors on the cusp of big-time fame. However, they were not only hit by a 90k strong petition telling them their choice was wrong; they had to say goodbye to Charlie Hunnam, AKA Christian Grey, and learn their Anastasia Steele, Dakota Johnson, had a touch of the heebie jeebies too.
Dakota Johnson Could Be Thinking Of Leaving '50 Shades.'
Sons of Anarchy star Hunnam's exit was confirmed earlier this week due to an "immersive TV schedule" that would prevent the actor from being able to fully prepare for the role of Christian Grey. The film took a hit, author EL James sent her best, and fans began to wonder whether Hunnam had secretly been influenced by the petition launched to replace him and Johnson with Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel.
Like Charlie Hunnam, the actress is finding the pressures of the job too much to handle
Dakota Johnson is feeling apprehensive about her part on the upcoming movie adaptation of EL James' 50 Shades of Grey. Like her former co-star Charlie Hunnam, the immense pressure that comes with the coveted role is proving to be a heavy weight to bear, one that she is finding increasingly difficult to keep balance with.
Last week, the 50 Shades of Grey movie was delivered a major blow when lead actor Hunnam dropped out of the project. His reasons for leaving were initially said to be because of his overwhelming work load, however ater reports stated that his exit was more to do with the sheer pressure that came with the job and the limelight that seemed to follow him everywhere since his part in the project was confirmed. Now reports are suggesting that Johnson too could be on the way out.
"Dakota is having a very hard time dealing with all the press," a source close to the actress told E! News. "When she first got the role, it was way too much for her."

Angry fans, tight schedules or... cold feet?
There are a lot of theories abounding regarding Charlie Hunnam’s abrupt Fifty Shades movie exit. The official line is: he can’t find the time in his schedule to properly prepare for the role. The unofficial one is: the angry fans intimidated him and he jumped ship.
Charlie Hunnam in a big fat motorbike
We’ve got a sneaky suspicion that neither of the aforementioned ‘reasons’ are true, and that Hunnam – who can’t claim to be attached to many critically acclaimed projects – realised just how bad the movie version of the steamy book will be, and decided it wasn’t for him.
Charlie Hunnam is excited to get cracking of "Fifty Shades."
Some fans of Fifty Shades of Grey might disagree, but it does seem like Sons of Anarchy’s Charlie Hunnam is the perfect choice to play the racy role of Christian Grey – in that he’s willing to do it, at least.
The film’s director Sam Taylor-Johnson still hasn’t revealed how much of the sexual content of E. L. James’ novel will make it on screen, but it’s likely to be quite a lot, considering that sexual scenes make up most of the trilogy.
This might also be part of the reason why several actors and actresses turned down the lead roles before Hunnam and co-star Dakota Johnson agreed.
