Hollywood screenwriter Dustin Lance Black has urged fans in four key U.S. states to vote in favour of marriage equality when they head to the polls for Tuesday's (06Nov12) elections.
The openly-gay Milk writer has issued a last-minute plea to devotees in Maine (Me), Minnesota (Mn), Maryland (Md) and Washington (Wa), where residents will cast their votes on whether they are for or against the legalisation of same-sex unions in their states, alongside their choice for president.
In a message on his Facebook.com page, Black writes, "To my friends in Me, Mn, Md and Wa State: the power of your vote for marriage equality today cannot be overstated. With these 4 wins you can and will change the narrative of this entire nation... forever. We cannot thank you enough."
Same-sex marriage is currently only recognised in law in Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Vermont and the District of Columbia.
