Outside Lands 2014 will be headlined by Kanye West, The Killers and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.
Possibly the only major festival where you can enjoy fine gourmet cuisine while rocking out to an eclectic variety of international artists, Outside Lands has now unveiled the 2014 line-up as it prepares to return to San Francisco this August.
We just can't express our excitement enough at the newly revealed line-up for Outside Lands this year. Topping the bill are the likes of Kanye West, The Killers and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers; three very different artists which see the latter become the first act ever to headline twice following their incredible set in 2013. Now in its seventh year, Outside Lands are showing signs of development every single summer, and at much benefit for the city with a percentage of every ticket sale going to San Francisco's Recreation and Park Department.
Due to hit the LA State Historic Park in a couple of weeks is the 2013 Hard Summer Music Festival featuring headline sets from several electro-house artists including Duck Sauce, Knife Party and Justice.
The festival first appeared in 2007 when Destructo (a DJ also known as Gary Richards) began promoting a series of live events that also included Hard New Year's Eve, Hard Haunted Mansion and Hard 13. This year it will take place on August 3rd and 4th and includes four stages including the Ed Bangor Records 10th Anniversary Stage and the Dirty Bird Players Stage.
Other headliners this year are Skrillex and Boys Noize side project Dog Blood, Californian DJ Bassnectar and Aussie duo Empire of the Sun. They will be joined by the no less exciting supporting acts of chart favourites 2 Chainz, Azealia Banks and Rudimental as well as SBTRKT, Flux Pavilion, Flying Lotus, Zedd, Crystal Castles and Baauer.

Albums of the week... Following 2011's massively successful collaborative album with Jay-Z 'Watch The Throne', Kanye West makes a return with a new solo effort entitled 'Yeezus'. He proves yet again that he is one serious hip-hop artist as he introduces a brand new edge to his sound that has not failed to engage his devoted fans with a number one spot on six charts including the US, the UK and Canada. As Joe Wilde summarises, 'This may be his best album to date and is probably his most discussed one too, but one thing it definitely is, is a Kanye West album and no-one can do anything quite like what he can do.' Read the Yeezus album review here.
Another album that's gaining some serious attention is everyone's favourite Icelandic rock band Sigur Ros, whose seventh album 'Kveikur' has not left any disappointment in the wake of its highly anticipated release. Their sound remains familiarly ambient as on 2012 offering 'Valtari', though has definitely become noisier and a little darker. Our reviewer Jim Pusey had only good things to say, revealing, 'Despite all the darkness to be found here, Sigur Ros have managed to create one of their most compelling albums to date by embracing that darkness and quite literally shining a light on it.' Read the review of Kveikur here.
Duck Sauce's third single, Big Bad Wolf, was released on September 23rd 2011 on 3 Beat Records. The official video for Big Bad Wolf immediately went viral upon its release, with some even calling it the most disturbing video of 2011. A-Trak explains: "When Keith [Schoffield] came up with this idea of 'crotchfaces,' we just thought it was hilarious, he started coming up with all these gags and describing the characters living in this sort of parallel world, and we were sold. He wasn't sure if we'd be down to play the leads, but our take on this was, if we're going to do this, we need to go all the way. So we played the dickheads, essentially."
