But the Doritos ad overtook them all.
Everyone knows the best thing about the Super Bowl is the commercials and this year, it doesn't disappoint. Featuring all the most unlikely stars you can imagine from Liam Neeson to Steve Harvey, this year's breaks had moments of tears, joy, shock and - namely - abject horror. Thanks Doritos!
Amy Schumer hits the Bud with Seth Rogen
First you got Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen representing Bud Light in all their awkward glory, giving an uplifting power speech about America and the importance of beer. Then there's Liam Neeson goes all sci-fi on us with the LG ad (never has a commercial been so suspenseful), and Kia Optima's walk-in closet commercial (sorry, we mean the 'Walken' closet) - enter Christopher Walken, an advocate for brightly coloured socks. Go figure.

The rivalry between the two streaming services might have just become more intense.
Tidal users who were tuning in to the livestream of Lil Wayne’s gig at his Lil Weezyana Festival in New Orleans were left missing out when Drake stopped by to deliver a brief three-song cameo. When Drake hit the stage the livestream stopped, reportedly due to the fact that the Canadian rapper is Apple Music’s main man, while Wayne is a co-owner of Jay-Z’s Tidal.
Drake’s performance with Lil Wayne was cut from Tidal’s livestream.
The Tidal twitter account told users, ”Apple is interfering with artistry and will not allow this artist to stream. Sorry for Big Brother’s inconvenience” as Drake took the stage, adding ”We'll be back after the performance.”

Nicki and Drake are friends, Nicki and Meek are ‘engaged’, Meek thinks Drake uses a ghostwriter…this wasn't going to end well.
Nicki Minaj has reportedly called it quits with her ‘fiancee’ Meek Mill following his high profile feud with Drake. The rapper has been embroiled in a spat with Drake for over a week now, after he accused him of using a ghostwriter to pen his lyrics.
Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill are reportedly no more.
According to MediaTakeOut Minaj ended the relationship on Thursday, though the pair will continue to tour together to fulfil existing obligations. A source told the website, “It’s complicated. I think they took their relationship too far, too fast.”
Finally, Mill has come back at Drake's two diss tracks with one of his own.
Meek Mill has at last responded to Drake in the escalating, and increasingly entertaining, war of words that’s broken out between them over the last 10 days. The Philadelphia-born rapper fired back at Drizzy’s two diss tracks by releasing one of his own on Thursday night (July 30th).
The track, called ‘Wanna Know’, got its first airing on New York’s Hot 97 radio station last night. It sees Mill repeat the claim that the Canadian star uses ghostwriters to pen his lyrics. One of the barbs goes “n***** writing for you cause you know you never did s***,” and Mill’s flow seems to imitate that of Drake’s own ‘Started From The Bottom’.
Drake laughed off Meek Mill's reply 'Wanna Know'

This rapper feud doesn’t look like it’s cooling down anytime soon.
After being accusing of using a ghostwriter by Meek Mill last week, Drake has hit back with a second diss track aimed at Nicki Minaj’s fiancée. In ‘Back To Back’ which he released on Wednesday, Drake calls out Mill again and accuses him of riding the coattails of Minaj.
Drake has unleashed his second response to Meek Mill ‘Back to Back’.
On the track Drake raps, ‘This for y’all that think that I don’t write enough / They just mad ’cause I got the Midas touch / You love her, then you gotta give the world to her/Is that a world tour or your girl’s tour? / I know that you gotta be a thug for her / This ain’t what she meant when she told you to open up more’

Meek Mill described 'Charged Up', which emerged over the weekend, as "very soft... baby lotion soft".
Drake released the track ‘Charged Up’ over the weekend in response to Meek Mill’s repeated claims that he didn’t actually write his own lyrics, using a ghostwriter to pen his rhymes instead. It featured barbs such as “Wow, I’m honoured that you think this is staged / I’m flattered man, in fact I’m amazed… You boys aren’t gettin’ any of your feelings on me / You should embrace it this could be one our realest moments”.

‘Charged Up’ takes aim at Mill and Funk Flex over their claims that Drake does not write his own lyrics.
Rapper Drake has responded to Meek Mill’s accusations he uses a ‘ghostwriter’ by releasing a ‘diss track’ titled ‘Charged Up’, which dropped on Saturday evening. The beef between the two rappers began earlier in the week when Mill accused Drake of not writing his own lyrics during a twitter trade.
Drake has responded to Meek Mill’s claims with track ‘Charged Up’.
In the track the Canadian rapper addressed Meek Mill’s claims and rhymes, ‘All y’all stare in my face and hope you could be to replace me / Snitchin’ on us without no interrogation / I stay silent ‘cause we at war and I’m very patient.’
Quentin Miller, with whom Drake collaborated on his recent mixtape album 'If You're Reading This It's Too Late', responded to being named by Meek Mill as Drizzy's 'ghostwriter'.
Quentin Miller, a relative newcomer to the industry, took to his Tumblr page on Thursday (July 23rd) to dismiss Mill’s argument. He recalls getting a phone call from Drake offering to work with him, describing talking to “one of my idols” with total disbelief.
“I am not and never will be a 'ghostwriter' for Drake,” Miller wrote. “I’m proud to say that we’ve collaborated… but I could never take credit for anything other than the few songs we worked on together.”

With his girlfriend Nicki Minaj engaging in a war of words with Taylor Swift, Meek Mill decided to start some beef with Drake.
Meek Mill, the boyfriend of Nicki Minaj, has called out Drake on twitter, accusing the rapper of not writing his own lyrics. The spat comes despite Drake making a guest appearance on Mill’s track ‘R.I.C.O.’ which featured on the rapper’s latest album Dreams Worth More Than Money.
Meek Mill has started some twitter drama with Drake.
"Stop comparing Drake to me too.... He don't write his own raps! That's why he ain't tweet my album because we found out!" Mill wrote on Twitter late Tuesday. "The whole game know forreal they scared to tell the truth! I can't wait tok these guys and sit back and act like they don't know!" he added.
New Look Wireless Festival drew to a close last weekend, with over 70 acts performing across 3 stages, all in celebration of their 10th birthday.
Kicking off proceedings on the Friday was ASAP Rocky, who performed tracks including Goldie and Excuse Me. The performance was uninspiring and lacked engagement with the audience, leaving festival goers in anticipation for headliner Drake.
Drake took to the stage, after cancelling last year's headline appearance due to illness, and was definitely worth the wait being a standout 90 minute performance. The Canadian rapper was appreciative of the Wireless crowd claiming London was his 'second home' before being joined by local MC Skepta for track Shutdown.

There's a lot to look forward for Wireless' 10th anniversary event.
New Look Wireless Festival is returning to Finsbury Park, following last year's success at the North London venue, celebrating its 10th birthday this year. The 2015 line-up is set to be the biggest yet with headliners Drake, Avicii and David Guetta playing to the 40,000 a day capacity festival.
For the first time, Wireless festival goers expect to see karaoke, a tone 'n' tweak area and plenty of choice in the food court. In celebration of their 10th birthday though, here are Wireless' best acts to see across the line up from this weekend.
This is a reference to Noel Gallagher's criticism that modern pop stars and bands seem to be very focussed on their careers.
He’s one of the biggest musical acts in the world today and could be forgiven for living a life of excess, but Ed Sheeran is determined to keep his feet on the ground and not let his career slide away.
During a new interview with the Big Issue, Sheeran addressed Noel Gallagher’s infamous recent criticism of new artists being “careerists” and too focussed on the financial side of their music, and it would seem that he takes the label as a compliment.

The Alabama outfit (as you'd guess by their name) are celebrating their first Number One record this week after 'Sound & Color' beat all other records.
In quite a low-selling week, the rockers sold 96,000 copies of their sophomore effort to reach the top spot in the Billboard 200 chart. The reformed system counts track equivalent sales and streaming equivalent sales, though some 91,000 of Sound & Color’s sales total came from traditional physical sales.
Alabama Shakes’ debut album Boys & Girls won the group a lot of plaudits upon its release in 2012 for its classic rock sound. It peaked at Number 6 in the American charts, nearly a year after its release, due to its three Grammy nominations in 2013.

The 'Life of the Party' singer has risen from internet fame to land a Number 1 record at his first attempt.
Internet sensation Shawn Mendes has completed his rise from a cult following on Vine to chart-topping sensation, as his full-length debut album has entered at Number 1 in the Billboard Top 200. Handwritten sold 119,000 units, including track and streaming album equivalent sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
16 year old Mendes is the youngest person to top the American album charts since 2010, when Justin Bieber – six months younger then than Mendes is now – spent a month at Number 1 with My World 2.0.

Bieber was reportedly ejected from the Coachella festival by security last weekend, after trying to get access to the backstage area for Drake's performance.
Following the widely reported incident at last weekend’s Coachella festival where he was kicked out by the security team at Drake’s performance, Selena Gomez has leapt Justin Bieber’s defense, saying that what happened was “totally unnecessary” and “unfortunate”.
TMZ reported on Tuesday that the ‘Baby’ singer was refused access to the celeb-filled artists’ area because it was full, despite having a valid wristband. An unnamed source has now told HollywoodLife that 22 year old Gomez is on her ex-boyfriend’s side in the dispute.

So why did Drake make that face after kissing Madonna at Coachella?
In a weekend packed full of memorable moments Madonna managed to become the most talked about star at Coachella after the video of her onstage kiss with Drake went viral, thanks to the rapper’s hilarious reaction.

For some reason Drake didn't seem too happy after receiving the smooch from the Queen of Pop and was seen furiously wiping his mouth afterwards. The image of Drake's grossed out looking face and frantic mouth wiping has unsurprisingly led to a slew of internet memes, with Madonna being compared to everything from a Dementor to Dracula.
And the rapper's reaction does not say good things about her kissing technique
When Madonna tells you to do something or even when she just makes you do it, you don’t say no to the Queen of Pop.

And, while rapper Drake did not stop the kiss that the Like A Virgin songstress planted on him at Coachella Festival, it certainly looked like something he was not entirely happy with after it had happened.

'To Pimp A Butterfly' matches its rave reviews with another week of six figure sales, meaning a second week at the top of the Billboard charts.
In a quiet week on the US Billboard 200, Kendrick Lamar’s new album To Pimp A Butterfly spends a second week in the Number One spot. The rapper’s third album sold more than double the amount of its nearest rival, the soundtrack to TV drama ‘Empire’, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Shifting 123,000 copies in its second week on sale, including track and streaming equivalent sales figures as well as physical copies, To Pimp A Butterfly is the first album to spend its opening fortnight at the top of the chart since Taylor Swift’s behemoth 1989 at the end of last year. The ‘Empire’ soundtrack was a non-mover in second place, selling 61,000 copies.

Take a look at the artists that could be the next ones to release a new album unexpectedly.
Surprise albums are all the rage, and it’s easy to understand why. They make sense for both fans and artists, and there’s hardly any downside to just throwing your highly anticipated album up for download on a random Saturday night with nothing else going on around the Internet. It practically sells itself at that point.
Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly saw an early release
Take a look at Kendrick Lamar: his new record, To Pimp A Butterfly, wasn’t even technically a surprise, as it was just allegedly “accidentally” released early on iTunes before its release. It still yielded the same results as a complete surprise album would, and it smashed a ton of streaming records like the 9.6 million number that was achieved via Spotify listens. The record-holder before that was, of course, none other than Drake’s surprise mixtape, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. You can see the trend here.

Kendrick Lamar is at Number 1 in both the US and the UK with his third album 'To Pimp A Butterfly', which came out a week earlier than scheduled last Monday.
Hip hop sensation Kendrick Lamar has stormed to Number 1 in the US Billboard 200 Albums chart with his third album To Pimp A Butterfly. It clocked up over 363,000 equivalent sales (totalling physical, track and streaming data) despite being released one week earlier than planned, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
To Pimp A Butterfly has the second highest first-week sales of 2015, behind fellow rapper Drake’s recent surprise release If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, which sold 495,000 in its debut week back in February.
