Donald Trump acknowledged Tuesday night that he decided not to seek the Republican presidential nomination because, under the FCC's Equal Time rule, he would be unable to continue as host of NBC's The Apprentice . "I had NBC calling me," Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity, "And, you know, having a hit show is cool ... and I have Comcast and NBC calling me [and saying], 'Please Donald, please, we want you, we love you, we love you.' So I had to make a decision, so I said, 'I'll do it. ... I'll do the show. I'll see who [the Republicans] pick. And if they pick a loser, I may run as an independent." Asked by Hannity whether his third-party candidacy would split the Republican vote, Trump said, "[Either] I go in or Obama would win. I don't think the Republican could win."
