LATEST: A further attempt to sabotage U.S. tycoon Donald Trump's plans to build a luxury golf resort in Scotland has been made - throwing the bid into jeopardy once more. The Apprentice star's hopes to built "the best golf course in the world" in Aberdeenshire, which would house an eight storey five-star hotel, two championship golf courses and 950 timeshare holiday apartments - has been hit by numerous setbacks, after the proposal was rejected by Aberdeenshire Council on environmental grounds. Earlier this week (ends 07Dec07) Scottish first minister stepped Alex Salmon stepped in to save the project, personally overseeing the application for the $1 billion (GBP500 million) development. But local farmer Michael Forbes, who refused to sell his 23 acres of land to Trump in October (07), was offered $1.5 million (GBP750,000) by tycoon Tony Bowman to turn down any of Trump's further offers "to make him angry". Forbes insists he will not sell the property.
