Real-estate tycoon-turned-reality-TV star Donald Trump has filed a $100 million (GBP66.7 million) lawsuit against a small city outside of Los Angeles over his plans to revamp his world-class golf course in the suburb.
Trump accused the city of Rancho Palos Verdes of fraud and civil rights violations in a suit filed last week (beg15Dec08), alleging his intentions to improve the facility and maintain the "Trump image" have been blocked.
Improvements planned in the restructuring include a clubhouse terrace and a row of ficus trees.
He tells local newspaper Mercury News, "I've been looking forward for a long time to do this. The town does everything possible to stymie everything I do."
The city's mayor, Larry Clark, has dismissed the charge, adding: "We have bent over backwards many, many times to work with Donald Trump. I'm sure this lawsuit is really going to anger a lot of the residents."
