Real estate mogul and reality Tv regular Donald Trump has opened up the doors to Trump Tower in New York City to shelter victims America's superstorm Sandy who had been evacuated from their homes.

Hundreds of Big Apple residents were forced to take cover when the post-tropical cyclone made landfall on Monday (29Oct12), causing flooding and widespread power outages.

And, in a bid to help those affected by the devastating storm, Trump has invited members of the public to seek solace, safety and food at his 58-storey office building in midtown, Manhattan, where his hit Tv show The Apprentice is filmed.

He told U.S. Tv host Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday (30Oct12), "I have a staff that's terrific and I have a building that was (left) in great shape. It has all sorts of equipment where it can keep going, including generators, and we invited the public in and we took care of a lot of people and I'm very happy about that."
