'Lost' star Dominic Monaghan branded his co-star Matthew Fox a woman beater after a fan asked him to get Fox to post more on Twitter.
In response to the request he wrote, 'He beats women. No thanks'. This prompted the die-hard 'Lost' fan to attempt to lighten the mood joking, 'I Know It Was Wrong But What?! What About All Those Good Times You Had Together?!' The 'Lord of the Rings' actor thought the fan was advocating domestic violence and angrily hit back with, 'How do you know we ever did? You don't know either of us. He beats women. Not isolated incidents. Often. Not interested.'
The bitterness came following accusations were made against Fox by a Cleveland female bus driver. She filed a suit alleging that he assaulted her when she refused to let him on her private party bus. In response to this, Monaghan Tweeted, 'An accusation is when you 'claim' someone did something wrong. I know. But hey little fan girl maybe want to get slapped around by him? Daddy issues? Blinded by the nice haircut? It's never okay. Maybe you have lower standards.' This sparked a heated conversation which ended when the fan apologised for the situation and added 'stay awesome'. She has since been receiving threats on the site from those who believe she was condoning violence towards women and released a series of Tweets attempting to clear the situation up. 'When I wrote that tweet I had no idea it would get that kind of a response from Dom. After that tweet, I wrote back without even thinking', she wrote. 'I respect Dom's opinion, just not the way he handled the response.'
