Fact: Former Doctor Who star Matt Smith is set to play Queen Elizabeth II's husband PRINCE PHILIP, DUKE OF EDINBURGH in upcoming Netflix series THE CROWN. The 10-episode series is inspired by stage play The Audience and will chart the monarch's interactions with various Prime Ministers. John Lithgow is set to play wartime leader Sir Winston Churchill and Claire Foy will play the young Queen.

Fact: Former Doctor Who star David Tennant will host a live celebration of William Shakespeare's work to celebrate 400 years since the legendary writer's death. The Scottish actor will appear at the Royal Shakespeare Company's theatre in the writer's native Stratford-upon-Avon, England next year (16). The show will air on U.K. network BBC2.

Fact: A college in England is giving fans of Doctor Who the chance to study their favourite show by staging classes on the history of the sci-fi series. The cult show will be the subject of an 11-week course at Aquinas College in Stockport, led by Who expert Michael Herbert, who has been a fan of the show since it debuted in 1963.

Fact: Former Doctor Who star ARTHUR DARVILL is getting a second chance to travel through time as the latest cast member on hit superhero show ARROW. The actor, who played the TV Timelord's companion Rory Williams in 2012, has been cast as Rip Hunter in the next season of Arrow. Hunter travels through time righting wrongs in history.

Fact: A fairground ride based on Tv series Doctor Who could become a possibility after officials at Bbc Worldwide set up a partnership with bosses of a proposed theme park in Kent, England. A number of Bbc shows will be the basis for attractions, and the park, named London Paramount Entertainment Resort, will also featured rides based on movies produced by Paramount Studios. It is set to open in 2020.

The Scottish singer, who studied neuroscience at the university between 2006 and 2009, was awarded an honorary degree for her outstanding contribution to the music industry on Wednesday (12Jun13). Moffat was handed a Doctor of Letters.
