Rapper DMX is to fight George Zimmerman in a so-called celebrity boxing match, courtesy of Damon Feldman the owner of Celebrity Boxing. The hip hop star, AKA Earl Simmons, will take on the man known for the fatal shooting of teen Trayvon Martin in February 2013 and ensuing high-profile court case.

Zimmerman was acquitted for murder in the manslaughter trial but the heavy media coverage of the case means the 30 year-old Virginian quickly became a household name and is a highly controversial figure. Feldman, who famously pairs bizarre opponents in the ring, announced last week that he was looking for volunteers to step into the ring for a three-round, pay-per-view fight with Zimmerman.

"The news has been out for an hour and my e-mail is overloaded with 8,000 people wanting to fight George," Feldman told CNN on Thursday. Out of more than 15,000 emailed requests, Feldman decided that the "Dark Man x" rapper would be the one to take on Zimmerman. "The match will be one of the Biggest Celebrity Boxing matches of all time," reads the press release announcing the fight.

DMX may be considerably older than Zimmerman at 43 may have the upper hand considering his greater height and apparent lust for violence. "I am going to beat the living f**k out him . I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him right up," the braggadocios DMX told TMZ.

"Once I am done with him, I am going to whip my d**k out and piss on him ... right in his muthaf**kin face," the incensed rapper asserted. He adds, "Zimmerman is a piece of s**t and that's what he needs to drink."

What's more, the rap star has had a history for disrespect towards the law, having most recently been arrested in November on driving charges. Throughout his life, he has also been arrested numerous times for animal cruelty, drug possession, weaponry possession, various vehicle offences and other violence.

Even though Zimmerman claims to have been trained in boxing, we don't want to be the ones to have to clean up the ring after DMX has been unleashed. "Prior to the incident, I was actually going to the gym for weight loss and doing boxing-type training for weight loss," Zimmerman told Radar.

"A mutual friend put me in contact with Damon and provided me with an opportunity and motivation to get back in shape and continue with my weight loss goals and also be able to help a charity out."

Naturally, calling the fight a celebrity boxing match has brought a great deal of criticism from those who believe the tag for Zimmerman is inappropriate, especially as the Trayvon case is still fresh in peoples' minds.

A press conference will be held next Wednesday to confirm the date, time, and location of the fight.
