Sales of rapper Dizzee Rascal's album have soared following his triumph at Britain's prestigious MERCURY MUSIC AWARDS on Tuesday (9SEP03).

Music chain HMV have reported sales of his album BOY IN DA CORNER were up by 150 per cent yesterday (10SEP03), compared with the previous day.

Spokesman GENARRO CASTALDO says, "With the weekend to come, he's going to pick up a lot more sales and the album could go into the top 20 for the first time."

Rockers THE DARKNESS - who were also nominated for the prize - haven't experienced the same level of increased sales, but music retail bosses believe more people will be buying their LP PERMISSION TO LAND once the awards are shown on British TV channel BBC TWO.
