The giant characters graced one of the UK's most treasured views to promote Disney's new game, 'Disney Infinity.'
Ship crews on the way into English port must have truly thought the seasickness had got to their minds when they saw enormous, brightly coloured characters moving about where land should have been. This was no hallucination though: Disney projected some of their most loved digital characters on to the sheer face of the white cliffs of Dover along with their "Disney Infinity" logo.

Toy Story's Jessie and Woody, Monsters Inc.'s Mike and Sully, The Incredibles' Elastigirl and Mr. Incredible, and Pirates of the Caribbean's Jack Sparrow all graced the cliffs The stunt was part of a promotional campaign for Disney Interactive's new game, Disney Infinity, that will allow gamers to combine physical toys with a digital gaming experience.
The basic pack, which costs $75, includes three plastic characters: Sully, Mr Incredible and Jack Sparrow. Any other toys must be bought separately and the figurines can be placed on the 'base' that comes in the starter pack.
The game and base are compatible with Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii and Wii U, and Xbox 360 and figures placed on the base can be controlled in the digital world with a normal video game controller. According to USA Today, player will also receive 'power discs' that enable characters and surroundings to be enhanced.
Seven Disney Characters Were Projected On To The Cliffs.
The video game, which has reportedly cost $100 million to develop is apparently Disney's bid at pulling some of the vast gaming market its way. It will directly compete with Activision's Skylander game which is based on a similar video game/toy collaboration and has earned $1.5 billion since October 2011.
Disney Infinity is certainly all the more glorious for its huge budget. The attention to detail, characters included and silly humour that adults will enjoy too (a toilet paper gun, c'mon!) could well win over scores young gamers, eager to creative their own Disney universe with characters they are well acquainted with.

One of the game's strongest features is its 'sandbox' aspect where gamers can explore an open universe with any characters and where building things is concerned, the sky's truly the limit. The game is taken into the online world where users can upload and share their creations. Analyst Colin Sebastian predicts big things for the franchise: "Infinity is the next test to see whether this is really the next big phenomenon" and that Infinity's success could determine whether other gaming companies make their foray into the new hybrid gaming world.
"It's still relatively new, and there are companies that want to avoid the Guitar Hero syndrome," he says, adding "They don't want to invest a lot of money in something that's a fad. If Infinity is successful, then I think that will be the catalyst to see a lot more of this type of game."
