The actress was just 21 when she was cast as double agent Miranda Frost alongside Pierce Brosnan as 007 in the movie, and she was far from prepared as she tried out for Bond bosses.
She tells W Magazine, "Before I was cast as a Bond girl, I had never actually seen a James Bond movie. The Bond audition was strange - I'd just come back from China, doing the kind of hippie backpacking thing that people do when they leave school.

The former Bond baddie's actress wife, Jennifer Birmingham Lee, gave birth to their son, Cash Yun Lee, on Monday evening (03Jun13) in Los Angeles.
Breaking the news to fans via Twitter.com, the new mum writes, "Monday was easily the best day of our lives! Baby Cash has arrived!!! We can't be happier! Absolutely floating!"

She said: ''I think being accepted as a good actress is all I ever wanted. That's the only stigma that comes with a Bond film - that people are quick to assume you were hired just for your looks.

Ben Wishaw is to play Q in the new James Bond film.
The 31-year-old actor has been cast as the MI6 gadget master in 'Skyfall' and for the first time in the franchise's history Q will be younger than 007, who will be played again by 43-year-old Daniel Craig.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Female fans will now have more than Daniel to gush over now Ben's been cast as Q. He'll be a big draw. It's a bold decision as it means Q will be younger than Bond for the first time.

Daniel Craig is growing a beard for the new James Bond film 'Skyfall'.
The actor is reprising his role as 007 for a third time in upcoming instalment 'Skyfall' - due for release in 2012 - and the usually suave spy will sport an unshaven look for the first time.
Bosses are also reportedly scaling back production costs on the movie - which had been delayed because of studio MGM's financial problems.

British designer Jenny Packham has revealed she was delighted to be asked to create a dress for Emma Watson's character Hermione Granger in the latest 'Harry Potter' movie.
Emma - who plays super swot Hermione Granger in the film series - wears a red frilled dress by the British designer in the latest film in the series, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' and Jenny said she is delighted the character has finally developed her own sense of style.
Jenny told Vogue.co.uk: "Designing for Emma Watson as Hermione was so much fun. She has now developed such a sophisticated style, so I had to combine the youthfulness of Hermione, with Emma's iconic fashion status."

Rapper/actor Ice Cube was more than a little amused when his XXX2: STATE OF THE UNION director was arrested as part of a transgender prostitution sting last year (06) - because he never liked the guy.
The IT WAS A GOOD DAY hitmaker admits he and Lee Tamahori constantly "bumped heads" while they made the 2005 action movie, and he found the director's embarrassing arrest a real giggle.
Ice Cube says, "What was cool is after we finished the movie I read in the paper that he got arrested on Santa Monica Boulevard, dressed like a transvestite, so (it was) poetic justice."
Tamahori, who also directed James Bond movie Die Another Day, was arrested on a sex charge in Los Angeles last January (06), while wearing a black dress and a wig.
He was charged with prostitution and loitering, apparently after he offered to perform oral sex on an undercover cop for cash. Tamahori accepted a plea deal to escape prostitution charges.
Former Bond girl Halle Berry is careful with her cash - despite making millions of dollars every year. The star, who reputedly earned $4 million (GBP2 million) for 007 film Die Another Day, is thankful for her good fortune, but admits one of her biggest fears is that she could lose it all. Berry says, "I'm not someone who has to have 10 cars and lots of diamonds. I'm pretty frugal. "I save a lot because I'm always worried about when this trip is going to stop."

She was rushed to hospital to remove the fragment. Later, during a steamy love scene with Brosnan, Berry choked on a piece of fruit.
