British singer Dido has spent years battling crippling panic attacks and stage fright.

The White Flag hitmaker suffers severe bouts of nerves ahead of live performances and would regularly break down before important shows.

The star would even bring her mother to gigs to act as a calming influence.

Dido tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "I suffered from terrible stage fright. In the early days, I couldn't even talk to the audience at my shows... I'd have panic attacks about singing on Tv or anywhere - I'd literally walk on stage and think, 'Oh no, I'm going to faint.' I was always fine once I started singing, but the build-up was paralysing. The bigger the show, the worse I'd get. I'd bring my mum with me to calm me down... I'd be hyperventilating."

However, the singer insists her problems have eased in recent years, adding, "The older you get, you just feel content about life and happy with things."
