Veteran actor Dick Van Dyke is to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award in New York City later this year (13) in recognition of his lengthy career.

The Mary Poppins star, 87, will be the guest of honour at the An Evening with DICk Van Dyke event at the Kaufmann Concert Hall in Manhattan on 26 April (13).

He will chat with entertainment journalist and film professor Eddy Friedfeld about his showbusiness life during the event and will also be honoured by bosses at local Jewish community centre 92nd Street Y.

Van Dyke will be presented with the organisation's first Lifetime Achievement Award for Bettering Humanity through Comedy.
