Denzel Washington has reportedly been offered the lead role in remake of 'The Secret in Their Eyes'.
The 'American Gangster' actor is in line to star as BenjamÃn Esposito - who was originally played by Ricardo Darin in the 2009 movie - in the reboot of the Oscar-winning Argentinean film.
The motion picture - which is to be written and directed by Billy Ray - tells the story of a retired legal counsellor who aims to find closure for one of his previous unresolved homicide cases by writing a novel about the crime and his unreciprocated love with his superior.
The original - which was directed by Juan Jose Campanella - won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
But before he takes up the role, Denzel will star alongside Ryan Reynolds in 'Safe House', where he will play a criminal on the run in South America after his hideaway is attacked.
The 56-year-old actor is also thought to be in line to star in Robert Zemeckis' thriller movie 'Flight', which would see him playing the part of a pilot who rescues his passengers when the engines fail on a plane he is flying.
