The subject of Denzel Washington's acclaimed directorial debut ANTWONE
FISHER has been honoured in Los Angeles for overcoming great odds to become a
hero to displaced kids.
The former angry young man-turned writer was honoured by THE HELP GROUP at
its child abuse prevention and intervention help day in Sherman Oaks on Friday
Fisher, 43, brought orphans and victims of abuse to tears as he read a
poem and recanted stories from his own tough upbringing - and urged all
troubled should to seek the ear of a psychiatrist.
Fisher claimed shrinks had helped him see the errors of his past - and
helped him become the success he is today.
He explained, "We all have family doctors and dentists, we should have a
family psychiatrist." 05/05/2003 08:57
