Dennis Quaid is already beginning to regret being named the world's top celebrity golfer, because now his peers are going all out to beat him.

The actor, who boasts a handicap of one, was named the top star on the course in a recent Golf Digest magazine poll, beating the likes of Thomas Gibson and Samuel L Jackson.

But Quaid admits the honour has its down side: "It makes me a big target now. You can just paint a big target on my chest, and actually I'm not that good right now; there's a lot of people who could beat me."

Competitive Quaid isn't about to let his game slip, however - after 15 years of playing as much as possible, he's still on the course daily.

He adds, "I drop my son off at school and head for the course."
