Demi Moore has responded angrily to Twitter followers who urged her to change the 'MrsKutcher' handle she uses on the micro-blogging website to something more appropriate, following news that the actress is to divorce from husband Ashton Kutcher.
Demi, 49, announced the split in November following months of speculation concerning Ashton's alleged infidelity, however, Twitter followers have continuously pushed for Demi to change her username to reflect her new single status. Responding to the barrage of queries regarding the handle, the Margin Call star said, "Changing my Twitter name isn't a top priority right now.Sorry it bothers so many of u. Should I not tweet until I do? Does it really matter?". On announcing her divorce last month, Moore said she was doing so with "great sadness and a heavy heart", adding, "As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation". The duo - considered one of Hollywood's power couples - married in September 2005 and immediately became tabloid fodder due to their sizeable age difference, Demi is 49 while Ashton is just 33.
Kutcher, who recently took over from Charlie Sheen on America's most watched sitcom Two and a Half Men, is an avid Tweeter and used the site to speak of his regret at the failed marriage, saying, "I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK".
